Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers makes two changes to the side which recorded a 4-0 FA Cup third round victory over Stoke City last weekend.

Top goalscorer Jamie Vardy and playmaker James Maddison return after missing the tie with minor injury concerns.

They replace the injured Dennis Praet, expected to be out for around three months after suffering a hamstring injury, and Ayoze Perez, who drops to the bench.

Leicester XI: Schmeichel, Castagne, Fofana, Evans, Justin, Albrighton, Tielemans, Ndidi, Maddison, Barnes, Vardy.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl makes three changes for his side's first fixture since beating champions Liverpool on 4 January, after their scheduled FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury was postponed.

Striker Danny Ings is absent after testing postive for COVID-19 last week and is replaced in attack by Che Adams.

Alex McCarthy returns in goal in place of Fraser Forster, while 20-year-old Will Smallbone makes his second league start of the season - and first since the opening day.

With Oriol Romeu, Jannik Vestergaard, Nathan Redmond and Moussa Djenepo all absent through injury, teenagers Kgaogelo Chauke, Caleb Watts, Allan Tchaptchet and Will Ferry start on a youthful bench, along with 20-year-old Jake Vokins and 21-year-olds Yan Valery and Dan N'Lundulu.

Southampton XI: McCarthy, Walker-Peters, Bednarek, Stephens, Bertrand, Armstrong, Diallo, Ward-Prowse, Smallbone, Adams, Walcott

    Fulham 0-0 Chelsea

All that ball, all that Chelsea possession and Fulham nearly nick one! Just a quick free-kick in behind, Cesar Azpilicueta plays it back to Edouard Mendy but his keeper is coming to get the ball and it's nearly past him!

He gets a foot there and the follow up is blocked by Thiago Silva.

    Sixes and sevens.

    Fulham 0-0 Chelsea

Straight away Tammy Abraham gets into the game, meeting a deep cross from the left with a header but it's a comfortable one for Alphonse Areola in the Fulham goal.

Hakim Ziyech then bends in a brilliant cross from the right and the sliding Christian Pulisic is inches away from a connection...

Lifa Nati: What will it take for Chelsea Board to see that Lampard can not do any better than what he has already done for the Club? It was good promoting young players to the first team , now they need an experienced manager

Garrett T Switzer: I would say this isn't working for Chelsea, but with a player like Giroud all you really need is for one of these 4 dozen crosses to find his head in a good position.

And here is the change - Tammy Abraham is on for Jorginho.

Olivier Giroud is relieved to be offside as he's missed an absolute sitter!

The first bit of sharp, incisive play around the box sees a backheel find Giroud in space. He's about 14 yards out, free, bang in the middle of goal, but he chokes the shot wide.

The flag was up though, as Tammy Abraham looks set to come on.

Surely you send on some of your attacking players on the bench if you're Frank Lampard. Surely.

Chelsea hardly need anyone in defence. Fulham aren't going anywhere near the halfway line.

Still no signs of a change on the Chelsea bench.

Hakim Ziyech has a shot deflected behind and Cesar Azpilicueta heads the follow-up corner wide.

Fulham still have pace on the counter though. Ola Aina, in the Antonee Robinson role on the left now, drives over halfway, comes inside and fires in a shot but it's wild and well over.

It's going to be a long half for that Fulham backline. Chelsea win a flurry of corners, Thiago Silva heading one wide and Olivier Giroud nodding one down but it's cleared. They are pinned back.

Sneaky! And it alomst worked. Chelsea work a short corner, and it's played back to Hakim Ziyech who took the set-piece.

Ziyech shoots form an improbably angle but withgreat power and it's heading in until Alphonse Areola makes a good stop.

Mason Mount and Olivier Giroud then link up but it's just about kept out.

Coul dbe a very scrappy second half to watch this. Fulham's Bobby Reid is lucky not to be booked for kicking the ball away as the hosts try and spoil a quick Chelsea free-kick. The visitors will have to be sharp to find a way past the 10 men.

Ben: CHO, Havertz, and Werner on to start the second half.

Chelsea are finding it easy to get the ball into Giroud's feet between the Fulham back four and midfield. What they lack is someone running off him behind the back four, which is ironically Werner's strength.

  18. 'I believe in all our strikers'published at 18:30 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2021

    West Ham 1-0 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC Sport: "I think a lot of the defensive side of the game was very good. A lot of the performance today was a good one against a decent West Ham side.

"I used to mark strikers and if they are having a tough spell they don''t get into the areas they need to to score goals. They can over think it. Sometimes you just need a lucky one to go in and then the goals can flow. We want it to happen, it is how we can fast track it. I think it will come.

"I believe in all the strikers here and I certainly believe in all the team. It was a good performance today but we really need to find that important pass or important finish.

"I thought the energy levels were really good as they tend to be. The lads look after themselves and are super fit."

Yes, you will see worse tackles in a Sunday League match. That's not really the barometer the Premier League are going for I don't think Karl.

Generally speaking in the top flight these days if you try and smash Cesar Azpilicueta into the Thames, you'll get a red card, whether you largely miss him or not.

Karl: That was never a red card. I see worse tackles in a Sunday league match. Premier League is just too soft now

Absolute joke! Never a red card. Gone for the ball. Studs not up. 8.5 Olympic score for Cesar! Yellow at best! Make football a contactless sport if that is a red. RIDICULOUS!!
