Got to be quicker, yep. City now do move it sharply, Ilkay Gundogan to Kevin de Bruyne on the right of the area, he bends in a shot left-footed and it deflects up and over.

From the corner Raheem Sterling and then De Bruyne both have shots charged down.

    Great defending!

It's a high possession percentage for Man City but one shot in total so far - we'd expect more really at this stage in the game. It's been full control, moving it around, as soon as the tempo goes up I believe it will be more difficult for Palace. But they must be delighted so far, the shape, the organisation, it's not easy to do that against this City side.

Both goalkeepers have had three touches so far. City keep the ball, there's no space for them to play into, so they come back and try again.

Stuart Eccles: Talk of 'title to lose' after 17/18 games is crazy talk, especially given results this season. Current top 4 have lost combined 13 games so far, no one has shown consistency by any stretch

Not yet at the half way point with many in the hunt, not anyone's title to lose yet.

Palace are one of the hardest teams to break down in the league on their day and they've given City nothing in this opening spell.

Bernardo Silva finds a yard of space on the right and bends in a fine cross but James Tomkins heads it out.

It's a really fascinating start. Eberechi Eze needs to step up I believe he'll get a bit of space. This is what he signed for Crystal Palace for, he's got to shine.

Lovely feet from Jordan Ayew to jag inside and beat a man on the left, he has Eberechi Eze for support but he is shut down. Tepid start.

Remember Andros Townsend scoring a ridiculously good goal in this fixture a year or two ago? Career highlight. He crosses well but John Stones can clear.

Dave: City will certainly be the happiest from the goalless stalemate at Anfield. Not least if they can go on and beat Palace

If Man City win tonight and win against Aston Villa on Wednesday we'll be top. Our title to lose.

Just a reminder that Phil Foden is 20 years old and he's played 96 times for City.

Every Manchester City fan will be thinking why is Phil Foden not getting the opportunities week in week out? Foden has got the energy, desire coming in of the left hand side, he's getting more confident and he's got a mixture of goals in his locker. From that side he's been really really good and he'll want to play week in week out.

I'm almost thinking he's ready to do that, there's a lot of games and we have to understand that he's not a seasoned regular at getting through those games and Pep Guardiola is still protecting him so it's hard to question that.

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson: "Every time Wilf (Zaha) doesn't play it's a miss, we would have loved to have had him but these things happen.

"Survive the onslaught, show a lot of discipline, players will work extremely hard to do the running that's necessary to keep up with the running they do and the way they pass the ball and find space."

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, on making four changes: "The results yesterday, so tight today as well, in this period I never saw the previous season big results, always so tight, people are tired, exhausted, mentally, physically."

On Gabriel Jesus' return: "It is important to have him again but we cannot forget I don't know the reaction when people come back from Covid, for example Gundogan struggled."
