Any chance of Arsenal stepping up to the plate any time soon? The current side need to see how Dixon, Winterburn, Adams, Bould & Keown played. Useless.

Good defending from Matt Targett as he does just enough to put off Emile Smith Rowe as the Arsenal youngster charges down the right. Smith Rowe rides Targett's sliding challenge but the ball deflects off his shin and behind for a goal kick.

Adam Salter: Cash has been terrific for Villa. Pepe hasn’t been able to get any change out of him all game.

Joe Wedgewood: Mikel Arteta seems reluctant to play Odegaard. Hoping this doesn't turn into another Denis Suarez situation....

I wonder if Lacazette is embarrassed that he has finished his day's work as the team's striker without registering a shot on or off target.

    Steve from Manchester

Er... why has no one mentioned the "foul" on Martinez by Lacazette, where Martinez had a full hold of the striker's shirt and pulled him?

Cedric floats in a cross from the left but it is too close to Emiliano Martínez at his near post.

Arsenal are enjoying 61% possession and their best attacking spell of the game but they need to make it count with a goal.

That card for Partey is a perfect example of how referees react to players screaming. Ref's heard a squeal and assumed a foul. Partey was literally just running. Ridiculous.

Watching Pepe misjudge where the far corner is has become a much too regular part of my lockdown life. I look forward to the 60th minute swap over to Willian shifting onto his right and overhitting his cross, just for some respite.

John McGinn cuts inside and, with the Arsenal defence backing off, has a go from distance. Good strike, on target and powerful but Mat Ryan is well placed to push away from danger.

Arsenal fans whining about refereeing decisions is frankly cringeworthy & embarrassing. Maybe they should reflect on why their team isn't robust enough to deal with adversity/set-backs rather than bemoaning how they get treatment that's supposedly unfair?

Marvelous Nakamba stays on his feet as he is clattered by Thomas Partey and turns before breaking towards the Arsenal goal. He finds Ollie Watkins, whose low drive is pushed away from goal by Mat Ryan.

Jack Grealish then smashes over from a tight angle for Aston Villa before Nicolas Pepe hits a decent effort just wide.

    Chances at both ends.

Thomas Stockting: Pepe, though he has improved, is still the most selfish winger I’ve ever seen. Not once does he look up in the box. And, unlike notoriously selfish wingers (Robben, Mahrez etc.) he doesn’t find the far corner anywhere near enough.

Has Pepe ever taken on and gone past a cone in training? Get him off.

A nicely worked corner almost comes off for Aston Villa as Jack Grealish plays it short to John McGinn, whose quick return pass is played to Ross Barkley inside the box but Barkley hits his shot into the ground and Mat Ryan catches comfortably.
