It's a good point - red card for a pull or a push, isn't it?

Liverpool make a couple of changes as Xherdan Shaqiri replaces Thiago and James Milner comes on for Curtis Jones.

Ryan Kerr: If that’s a penalty and Dias made no attempt to make a tackle then surely it’s a red card too. Granted it was barely a penalty but is that not the rule?

OK a pull back, no attempt to play the ball, why wasn't it a red?

Mo Salah has certainly made the most of it. Yes, he pulled Salah's arm, but was there enough for Salah to go down? I'd have done the same if I was Salah.

    Mo Salah (Pen 63 mins)

And that is how you take a penalty at the Kop end. Mo Salah steps up and thunders a drive into the roof of the net.

  6. PENALTY TO LIVERPOOLpublished at 63 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Manchester City

    Route back into the game!

Ruben Dias with a rare error, the ball bounces past him and he pulls back Mo Salah. Not a huge amount in it but crucially, enough.

J.C.: Sadly looks like we could have no serious Title race or Relegation battle this season - looks close to being all over at both ends of the table already

Liverpool really struggling for any kind of consistent form this season. If they're not careful they will find themselves competing for worst title defence since Moyes' United in 2013/2014.

An hour gone. Always hard to tell if it's the goal-scoring side retreating or the side how need a goal stepping up but Liverpool are definitely pushing and driving City back now.

They just need someone to watch the shop as they nearly get done on the break but Bernardo Silva can't get the ball to a free Phil Foden in time.

  9. CLOSE!published at 58 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Manchester City

Closest Liverpool have come! What a pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold, whipped out to the left where Curtis Jones' touch is good enough to take him past Joao Cancelo.

He hits a low shot which takes the slightest of touches off the heel of John Stones and flies wide.

Nobody's going to catch Manchester City. They just don't concede goals. They can win games by playing beautiful football, win games playing the hard way - just a fantastic footballing side.

Ryan Barnes: To avoid City having to make another non essential journey, just let them take the trophy with them tonight

Andy McNamara: Well, the fireworks worked.

Gundogan been incredible for city this season, Player of the season candidate for me. Also enjoy that he seems to be the only one on the pitch not getting his haircut

Wonderful play once again from Raheem Sterling, the way he glided past players, but I've got to say Trent Alexander-Arnold, one-on-one there, it was poor, poor play. It's a good save but Gundogan was quick to react. Brilliant from Manchester City.

    Ilkay Gundogan (49 mins)

    He doesn't miss those!

Raheem Sterling is the man to make the difference again, skipping inside Trent Alexander-Arnold with ease and driving to the goal, He finds Phil Foden, whose low drive is parried out by Alisson but there's Ilkay Gundogan. Only about four yards out, he buries it into the roof of the net.

Well played Oleksandr Zinchenko, motoring across his penalty area from left-back to cut out a ball that threatened to send Mo Salah in on goal.
