Good game! Newcastle will be pleased with that, they haven't just come and parked the bus. Far from it.

If Bailly plays that shot is blocked. Every United fan I knows prefers Bailly and Maguire, Lindelof and Maguire doesn't work. Why can't Ole see what everyone else sees?

    Dom, London

Lindelof next to Maguire and the defence is awful. Put Bailly with Maguire and the defence is awful. Strange. I wonder what could be changed.

Joelinton goes down on the halfway line, Steve Bruce has to tell him to get up and track back and now he goes down a third time and is being looked at. Looks like his back is the issue.

That's Allan Saint-Maximin's first Newcastle goal since 3 October, and finally marks his return to form after almost two months out with coronavirus symptoms.

It was some control to keep that on target too. He side-footed it into the ground before he beat David de Gea.

Those bookings for Bruno Fernandes and Isaac Hayden have come through as for 'adopting an aggressive attitude' which is something I would want all my players to do to be honest. I didn't know that was a yellow card offence.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may be adopting one in the dressing room at this rate.

Fred now hits a shot from range, hard, true but straight at Karl Darlow. It's over two years since he scored a Premier League goal.

Marcus Rashford's opener was his 40th goal in all competitions since the beginning of last season, with only Raheem Sterling (44), Harry Kane (45) and Mohamed Salah (47) managing more amongst all Premier League players.

    Superb.

Martial of today vs Martial when he signed is exactly the same player. Cut in and shoot. Play well one in about 5 games. Put little or no effort in defensively. Hasn't come on one iota since he was 19.

It is a poor header from Harry Maguire, he doesn't know what is around him and he just tries to flick it away. Anthony Martial switches off but it is a great finish from Allan Saint-Maximin.

It has been a great game so far.

Bruno Fernandes and Isaac Hayden have a coming together, not sure what started that, but the pair of them are booked.

Fernandes has been as anonymous as I've seen him tonight. Bound to score any second now...

No saving that one! Sublime technique and Newcastle are deservedly level.

Again a cross in is not dealt with, Harry Maguire's flicked header away is not good enough and Allan Saint-Maximin meets it on the bounce and sidefoots it hard and high, into the roof of the net on the angle.

Typical of Newcastle's recent form, that. A positive start, let down by poor finishing and then the opposition score with their first real chance.

A good goal by Marcus Rashford, his 18th of the season, but Karl Darlow should not be letting in shots at his near post like that.

  14. GREAT SAVE!published at 34 mins

    Manchester United 1-0 Newcastle

Newcastle had started the game well and have reacted to that goal well too. They win a corner which is nodded out, Allan Saint-Maximin rifles in a drive from 20-odd yards and David de Gea is on his toes ot make a fine save.

    Marcus Rashford (30 mins)

Newcastle will have issues with the defending and the goalkeeping - but that is wonderful, individual skill from Marcus Rashford!

What a goal. His first touch sees him skin Emil Krafth down the left wing. The defender gets back, so Rashford cuts inside and then hits a low shot at the near post. Hit it really hard and early, Karl Darlow was caught out and while he got hands on it the ball flies in.

Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have managed Daniel James well. If I was playing against them, and I saw him on the bench, and if after 70-80 minutes I was fatigued the last person I'd want to come on is Daniel James.

But I do think there is a huge step up from the Championship to this Manchester United squad, it will take time, and I think he has adjusted very well.
