To think we nearly signed Maguire ourselves and missed out on Ruben Dias for £15m less. In Pep we trust

I am truly struggling to think of a bigger waste of money than Harry Maguire. Watching Leicester earlier on made me realise I'd swap him and take Jonny Evans back in a flash.

People talk about Bailly, but I would like to see Tuanzebe get a proper run in the team. And soon we will have Mengzi coming through.

Bruno Fernandes looks frustrated as he's muscled off the ball, Juan Mata is out warming up. Newcastle look the more likely to score at the moment, that's for sure.

It was very, very good hands from David de Gea. It was well held.

Ooooh he hit that one! What a hit from Allan Saint-Maximin, collecting a half cleared ball again and whacking it in hard and low, David de Gea gets behind it to save but that was travelling.

Allan Saint-Maximin dances away from Dan James and takes on Aaron Wan-Bissaka but the full-back does a better job of defending and sees him out. Joe Willock then wins a free-kick as Newcastle again make a bright start to the half.

Well done Miguel Almiron, who scraps away and wins the ball twice when he had no right to really. Jonjo Shelvey then shoots from a mile out and can only whip it halfway up the Stretford End.

Can we please cut our losses and sell Maguire to whoever will take him.

Newcastle have had 27% of the possession in that first half but had more shots and shots on target than their hosts, won more corners and put more crosses in.

A point here would leave the gap between them and the relegation zone at four points.

Loads of complaints about United but I think we've been excellent tonight. Credit to Bruce and the boys, we've really grafted.

It has been a good half of football - it has been highly entertaining. If you look at the way that Newcastle have gone about it it's what we wanted before the game.

You can't take your eye off Manchester United though, as we saw with the goal. They are able to change the game in an instant.

Michael Smith: When you are in the position Newcastle are in taking advantage when better teams are struggling is key. Similar to the Everton game. Want to see us competing in every game

Bruno Fernandes has been as quiet as I've seen him in a Manchester United shirt. One shot and one chance created - though admittedly nobody for the hosts had more than one shot.

The thing with Manchester United is, and Newcastle have nullified it really well, you know the threat is Bruno Fernandes. You know it's coming from the left too with Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford.

It was a brilliant goal from Rashford, but the keeper Karl Darlow will be disappointed.

Shane O'Neil: Utd couldn't defend if their lives depended on it. The worst team I have seen at clearing the ball, knocking it always back into the danger area. That was shocking from an £80m player. Exasperating

Kevin: Found out once again. Weak at set pieces....my prediction, Andy Carroll with a last minute winner from a free kick

Alphonse: Defend poorly and start with no motivation. Get punished. United sloppy, Maguire too many poor performances

Only Callum Wilson (15) has been directly involved in more PL goals for Newcastle this season than Saint-Maximin (5 - 2 goals, 3 assists), despite this only being the Frenchman's 11th league start this term.

James and Greenwood obviously not yet as technically able as Martial, but at least they try. I really hope he gets moved along soon, because he's been riding the wave of "potential" for far too long. Lazy and self interested. Get rid.

Man utd look so nervy at the back, they are trying to play the ball out from the back in the modern way but Newcastle are pressing them and Maguire and Lindelof look a bag of nerves trying to play that way.
