Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We dominated 80% of game and defended well - the goal they scored was opportunism and the number 11 had a shot at goal and slipped and [Anwar] El Ghazi was coming from having struck the corner and he found the ball.

"In the first half we created enough chances to score a goal and they missed some chances and in the second half we defended better than in the first. But we attacked worse - we couldn't finalise the attacks.

" The crosses were not precise, the final passes weren't precise enough. It was a second half with sustained dominance throughout, more than the first half, it couldn't be translated into a goal."

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce on dropping Karl Darlow and replacing him with Martin Dubravka: "In management sometimes you have to make a decision which is cruel.

"Karl's done nothing wrong really. I've just decided to make a change and the experience and know-how of Martin could help us."

May still feels a long way off but has anyone else imagined Raul Jimenez coming off the bench to score for Wolves against Manchester United in front of fans at Molineux on the final day of the season?

Jimenez is back on the training pitch just five months after suffering a horrific head injury against Arsenal.

Asked if the Mexico forward could return before the end of the season, boss Nuno Espirito Santo said: "I'm totally confident, for sure."

Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith, speaking to Match of the Day: "You have to try and match what they do – they’re a good team and play with lots of energy and we had to let them know we were in the game which we did. Tactically we were good – second half I was so pleased and we were always a threat on the counter.

“I needed to freshen it up, there's a few players that have played a lot of minutes this season so we wanted to change it up. The pitch was cutting up a lot and people were slipping so we changed tactics a bit and it paid dividends.

“We lost from winning positions too often last season, there is a growing maturity among the group, we are the youngest team on average in the Premier League but there is definitely a growing maturity."

On Emiliano Martinez: "His groin tightened up which hindered him from kicking the goal kicks – I’ve taken goal kicks myself as a centre back and it’s a tough gig but Tyrone [Mings] and Ezri Konsa did a good job."

On how this season is different to last: "It's a lot more enjoyable for us – our away form has been excellent. Any game you play it’s kind of like a neutral venue at the moment - certainly today would’ve been different with the Elland Road crowd here."

Statistically if we carry on as we are, Fulham will stay up and Newcastle will go down.

The longer Newcastle don't win they're getting into this situation where they have no confidence and pressure is building on Steve Bruce.

He needs to do something urgently, he has to win something - otherwise Fulham who are looking secure and have lots of draws and a couple of wins.

Fulham look like they're building confidence and they're developing their way out of trouble, whereas Newcastle are plummeting at the moment.

Newcastle will start March in the relegation zone if they lose this and Fulham win at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn, speaking to Match of the Day: "Not many people would have fancied us without Jack [Grealish]. Leeds are really fit, they make you work hard for the goal. We got it early today and showed lots of character.

"They have a lot of threat but it leaves some weaknesses at the back. We maybe sat back a bit too much, but we’ll take the three points. It’s massive.

"We’ve got the chance [to finish in the top six] but there are some top teams in there. We’ll just take it game by game, starting on Wednesday [at Sheffield United] – that’ll be a tough game as well."

On Anwar El Ghazi: "When Anwar’s full of confidence he can do that. It’s great he’s among the goals."

On Jack Grealish's absence: "Jack’s a loss to any team. He’s still in and around the training ground, helping and guiding us. We’ll have him back soon, but for the meantime we need to put in performances like that."

Newcastle United

Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark, speaking to Sky Sports: "Every game in the Premier League is a must-win. We feel we've played well at times in the last few games and we're taking the positives out of those performances. We're keeping our focus and we have to concentrate on ourselves. It's about us and what we do on the pitch."

Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith, speaking to Sky Sports: "The players deserve lots of credit. Our game plan came off really well. We pressed them really well.

"We probably made it too open at times, but we restricted them to very few chances in the second half. We wanted to play with safety first and we did that.

"We made a really good start and got on the front foot early. Our intensity levels were certainly a lot better than they were last week. In the first half against Leicester there wasn’t as much intensity as I’d like. Today was a different game."

On Jack Grealish: "We want him in our team because of the top player he is, but we’ve shown today we’re a top team. We’ve come to a team that scores goals freely and kept another clean sheet."

Newcastle are sinking like a stone. They have the pallid look of relegation about them, and it's hard to know where their next win is coming from.

In contrast, Wolves are looking like the team they were last season, and have won their past two games. I think they will make it three in a row at St James' Park.

A few Newcastle fans were upset to see Bruce laughing with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Manchester United's 3-1 win over the Magpies last weekend.

Lose against Wolves tonight and the noise from the fans will increase.
