There was the chance.

Leeds break and Jack Harrison floats a cross to the back stick where Rapinha is waiting. He is out off by the defender's jump in front of him and heads into the ground and over.

Villa eat up more time by sending on Trezeguet for El Ghazi.

Oh, the ball nearly breaks for Hernandez in the box as a cross deflects to him. His touch is too heavy, though, and he loses the chance to get away a clean shot.

Neither side has had a shot on target in the second half.

Bamford tries to get in in front of Konsa in the box to meet an Ayling cross. It deflects off the Villa man for a corner, which is headed away at the near post by Villa.

Paul, Hebden Bridge

Hernandez is not happy. He is down holding his hand and and then suggests Targett used an arm to hammer into the back of his head.

There have been a few niggly moments in the game. I wouldn't call it dirty but the cards are mounting.

Hernandez is the man booked this time.

That final ball just has not been there for Leeds. They've not been quick or incisive enough. They break and Raphinha is found in the box but Villa get back and the low ball in is cut out.

Villa's time wasting is punished with El Mohamady booked for taking too long over a free-kick.

Villa's first change sees Jacob Ramsey come off to be replaced by January signing Morgan Sanson.

Newcastle make one change to the side beaten by Manchester United last time out, with Steve Bruce dropping goalkeeper Karl Darlow for Martin Dubravka.

Bruce said Darlow was at fault for United's first goal in that match and hands Dubravka only his second start of the season following a heel injury.

Another poor delivery. The free-kick is way too close to Martinez, who calmly steps out to claim the ball. How many times has he done that this game?

Raphinha is taken down by Targett right on the corner of the Villa box. The Brazilian will fancy this.

Martinez isn't right in the Villa goal. He's had painkillers delivered this half and is now handing goal-kick duties over to Mings.

Villa have done a good job of sucking the life out of this game in the second half. Managed it well. Leeds haven't helped their cause, though. Too slow, too many misplaced passes.

Hernandez looks to make something happen, though, with a shot that brings a corner via a deflection. The initial delivery is headed away and sliced tamely wide by Klich from range.

John McGinn yells to the referee as he is brought down, trying to get Klich booked. He's been caught in the mouth and needs a bit of treatment to stem a bit of blood.
