I think that's a penalty - I think Fred misses the ball and clatters into Raheem Sterling. My first instinct - penalty!

Raheem Sterling cuts inside and runs across the middle of the box, skipping past the feet of a number of Manchester United players before eventually going down when he runs into Fred. Penalty? Anthony Taylor saw nothing in it.

Both sides have not been afraid to commit players forward when they attack. Manchester City are currently enjoying a lengthy spell of possession as they look to get back level.

City players are very good at getting in between the lines, getting on the half turn and if United can be disciplined in those areas, can they nullify City that way? But then the full backs have to be really tight on the wide players.

Good pressing from Manchester United as they close down the Manchester City player in possession when inside their own half.

Kevin de Bruyne, in particular, seems to be struggling with the press and he gives the ball away not for the first time and Fred quickly finds Marcus Rashford, whose shot from distance is saved.

It was extremely high tempo from Manchester United for the first five minutes but they appear to have stepped down a notch or two with their attacking intent.

Manchester City are seeing more and more of the ball but their passing is not yet at its fluid best.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to BBC Sport: “The obvious thing [was missing] a goal and a clean sheet. It was always clear that Fulham would cause us big problems with the situation they are in and the one we are in.

“It was clear we had to adapt. We started quite well, we were direct and Mo [Salah] cause them problems but we didn’t finish the situations off. Then Fulham were good. Our last line was completely new. We had balls in behind where we had to run a lot because we were not high enough or just not in the right position and we conceded the goal.

“That has an impact. Usually I would say 1-0 down is not a problem, it is a normal score and is one of three possible scores but of course at the moment for us it is different.

“We had to step up and the boys did. We started the second half well, created chances and we did not score again."

On this being one of his lowest spells as a manager: "I would wish to say no but yes it is. That’s not a problem. I don’t always have to have the best times.

"This team is an extreme team. We were extremely successful and now we have an extreme situation as well but we will fight through."

After just 101 seconds, Bruno Fernandes' penalty is the earliest goal that Manchester City have ever conceded in a Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium and earliest goal in a Manchester Derby since Edin Dzeko in March 2014.

Manchester City are just trying to clear their heads here after an awful start. They could and should be two goals down.

Manchester United have really gone for them and they are just trying to spend some time on the ball to get their way into this game.

Ederson got a big right hand to it - there was no little jump before he took it so Bruno Fernandes had a little stutter, a continuous run up and Ederson got a right hand but palmed into the inside side netting. Incredible - I've just been saying I can't see past a City win and then United straight away go on the attack and do that.

My word Manchester United are not resting on that early goal.

They are at Manchester City again as Scott McTominay finds Marcus Rashford on the edge of the box. Rashford waits for Luke Shaw on the overlap, plays him in and although he loses the ball he quickly regains it and smashes a shot at Ederson
