A chance for Moura to put one into the box from the free-kick... He whips it in with venom but it skips past everyone in the six-yard area.

Newcastle work it well out from the back. Jonjo Shelvey's long ball isn't dealt with by Davinson Sanchez and it falls for Joelinton on the edge of the box.

He strikes it well but it's straight at Hugo Lloris. That was a real chance!

Southampton

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl: "A difficult start for us, and normally an opponent that is not helpful if you go two down. I'm very happy to see things we were working on over the last two weeks - our decision-making in the final third was fantastic. We could have scored five or six or more goals against a team that doesn't normally give you many chances.

"It was a deserved win. We tried to keep the tempo very high and stretch them all the time and it worked. We have belief in what we are doing and I think you grab the chance when you get it.

"It was important to make the equaliser before half-time. Then you are in a better position mentally to keep on going. I don't know a lot of teams who turned it around like we did, so it's a massive boost.

"It was a six-pointer today. To turn the tables around is amazing for us and I think the guys did a good job today."

Big game for both teams. Spurs looking to jump into the top four. Newcastle are just two points above the relegation zone.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho to Sky Sports: "That result [Chelsea's defeat to West Brom on Saturday] doesn't change our perspective. It is a result at a time.

"Liverpool won. Maybe Everton win and West Ham. There is too much in this race. We have to try and get good results in the matches we play in."

Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce on Sky Sports: "We've had a few knocks on international duty. We obviously need a response from last night but a lot of those changes were forced.

"We all know we have the ability to roll our sleeves up. The one thing I have never questioned is the spirit of the team. They know what's required to play at a big place like Newcastle."

Southampton

Southampton's Theo Walcott: "We were fantastic in the end and showed great character. It was a great game for the neutrals.

"It's a good solid win and hopefully we can go into the FA Cup semi-final later this month with some confidence.

"It would have felt better if there had been fans in the stadium. Whenever you win you want to share it with your fans but the lads showed a tremendous work-rate.

"It really was an incredible game. We should never have been in this situation [in the table] in the first place but we have players coming back and you want everyone to be competitive."

Southampton striker Danny Ings: "It was tough. As a team, in previous games when we've gone behind it's been extremely tough to get back into it. The lads dug deep. At the end of the day we thoroughly deserved it.

"It was a nice goal. I was pressing Ben Mee, he was caught off balance and I managed to steal the ball and have the composure to put it through Pope's legs. Every player wants to play every week and this season's been interrupted for a lot of people, but to be back out there today, I enjoyed it.

"It's a massive win. We understood that our form hasn't been good enough. To put it right today was huge but we have to carry on and keep going."

Harry Kane has scored 27 goals and provided 16 assists.

Newcastle have lost five of their past six Premier League home games against Tottenham, having only suffered four defeats in the previous 26 top-flight meetings at St James' Park.

Tottenham could win four consecutive away league fixtures against Newcastle for the first time in their history.

Spurs won this fixture 3-1 last season - it was Jose Mourinho's first Premier League away victory against Newcastle at the eighth attempt (D3, L4).
