One of the few times I've given Steve Bruce credit. Bringing Dubravka straight back in was a no brainer. Saved us so many times.

Elias Zapple: RE solution to buy new players. Liverpool don't really do that but it's possible our front 3 have peaked & need replacing. Can we afford to do nothing & hope they rediscover their form?
Has 1-1 written all over this. Never seen such a decline in the form of players as I've seen in Mane and Firmino.

Liverpool 1-0 Newcastle
Another Liverpool chance goes begging. Newcastle give the ball away at the back allowing Mane to set up Salah for a shot into the side-netting.
How many opportunities do they actually want?
Liverpool 1-0 Newcastle
Dubravka has had an excellent game. Big saves, calm, composed.
Salah is wide right to send over a cross that the Newcastle keeper coolly comes out to claim.

Well played Shelvey. He may not be playing as a full on centre-back but he is putting a shift in. He tracks back to nick the ball off Mane's toe before the Liverpool striker can shoot.

I reckon Newcastle could do a West Ham with a bit more luck and a couple of good signings. They're not a million miles off being top 7.

We've had 70 minutes.
If Florentino Perez had his way that'd be full-time.

L: Nerves are terrible, thanks for asking. Last minute equaliser all but guaranteed, same as Leeds. Sigh.
Andy K: I feel another Leeds Utd moment coming on here.

Is Shelvey playing centre-back now? Surely not?
He is for a moment as Liverpool win a corner that Dubravka comes out to meet with a strong clearing punch.

It is an attacking change too. Joe Willock, who has come on and scored in his last two appearances, is on for Ciaran Clark

Oh, close!
Andy Robertson drives a low angled shot from range that fizzes past the far post. That's going to prompt another Newcastle change.
Liverpool 1-0 Newcastle
We're past the hour mark. It remains 1-0 and Newcastle have had the best chance of the second half. How are your nerves, Liverpool fans?
Liverpool 1-0 Newcastle
Hospital pass.
Shelvey fires a long-range back-pass for Dubravka, who can't pick it up and has to take a touch to try and bring it down, inviting Mane in for a challenge that sends the ball behind for a goal-kick.
Dicey.

Michael Smith: Newcastle have obviously worked out that equalising too early would be risky here.
I can see why Newcastle are at the wrong end of the table. Plenty of talent but they lack movement off the ball.
