Neal Maupay has to do better than that.

That was the finish of a striker low on confidence and in poor form. Sure, the pass from Leandro Trossard was bouncing a bit in front of him but he's scuffed it well wide.

He simply has to get it on target.

  2. CLOSE!published at 67 mins

    Brighton 1-0 Leeds

Important block! A deep cross from the left flies over Danny Welbeck's head and comes through to Joel Veltman.

He catches it cleanly on the volley but it's blocked by Jack Harrison. That'll definitely bruise...

Neal Maupay then dribbles an effort wide of the right post.

Why are Leeds so poor without Phillips, and why does Klich keep getting a game? So frustrating

  4. CLOSE!published at 63 mins

    Brighton 1-0 Leeds

    Decent chance for Ben White!

He is unmarked in the box when it's delivered from the right but he can't quite keep the header down.

It ripples the top netting. Illan Meslier was scrambling a little...

    Brighton 1-0 Leeds

A fair substitution to take Patrick Bamford off. He's not been involved at all.

His facial expression as he left the pitch and went straight down the tunnel tells it all. He's not happy with his performance this afternoon and clearly his manager isn't either.

Ian Poveda has looked lively since coming on but he's not found his touch quite yet.

Patrick Bamford's day is done though. He's been very, very quiet. On comes Rodrigo.

Leeds just haven't got going in this game.

Their passing is all over the place and they have not clicked yet.

The skies are looking threatening here, Brighton have to hope that a change in the weather doesn't change things for Leeds.

Both teams are poking around but little of any real note has been created yet this half.

That chance for Danny Welbeck was the best. He never really had the conviction to go around Illan Meslier.

Patrick Bamford runs in behind here but it rolls through to Robert Sanchez.

    Brighton 1-0 Leeds

    Matthew Upson

Illan Meslier is really lucky there. He's been caught in no-man's-land and if Danny Welbeck gets any elevation to that shot, then he scores.

He's just a bit off balance, Meslier manages to get a hand to his effort and he's got back up from his defence.

    Brighton 1-0 Leeds

Illan Meslier is smart off his line to gather the ball in but Danny Welbeck is straight in behind again a few minutes later.

He tries to poke it around Meslier but the keeper just about gets enough on it and there's defenders back on the goalline to hook it away.

Brighton are straight on the attack. Dan Burn weaves inside three players on the left and tees up Joel Veltman.

He hits it first time but skies it over the bar.

Change at the break for Leeds.

Ezgjan Alioski is off. On comes Ian Poveda. Stuart Dallas moves over to left-back.

Leeds have failed to win any of their last 31 Premier League games when trailing at HT (D4 L27), since coming back to beat Sunderland 2-1 in December 2002 under Terry Venables.

    But...

Brighton have won just one of their last four Premier League games when leading at HT (D1 L2), beating Newcastle in March.

    Matthew Upson

Brighton fully deserve their lead. They’ve been brighter, more dangerous and the better side. It will also be because they’re playing against a below-par Leeds side.

Marcelo Bielsa is scowling. He's not happy with what he's seeing.

    Brighton 1-0 Leeds

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live at the Amex Stadium

A horrible miss from Leandro Trossard.

It's so sloppy from Diego Llorente, Danny Welbeck charges him down and feeds it across the area. Trossard is there on the penalty spot, whole goal to aim at and he can't keep it down.
