That was the finish of a striker low on confidence and in poor form. Sure, the pass from Leandro Trossard was bouncing a bit in front of him but he's scuffed it well wide.
He simply has to get it on target.

Illan Meslier is really lucky there. He's been caught in no-man's-land and if Danny Welbeck gets any elevation to that shot, then he scores.
He's just a bit off balance, Meslier manages to get a hand to his effort and he's got back up from his defence.

Illan Meslier is smart off his line to gather the ball in but Danny Welbeck is straight in behind again a few minutes later.
He tries to poke it around Meslier but the keeper just about gets enough on it and there's defenders back on the goalline to hook it away.
