Interesting insight from Gary Neville about what will be going through the minds of the Manchester United and Liverpool players at their team hotels.

Neville draws a parallel with an England game in Poland in 2012 when the game was played the following day after heavy rain forced a postponement of the original fixture.

Neville says the long and uncertain delay could have a negative impact on the physical and mental preparations for the players.

"They might decided enough is enough and get back to it tomorrow," he adds.

Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Fans have done a lot of good things over the last few weeks. Don't let that be ruined and put in a box and forgotten about because of this today. I plead with fans out there. Don't think that's a good idea because the embarrassment you'll give to your club is not worth it.

Man Utd v Liverpool (kick-off TBC)

Man Utd fans have been getting in touch on BBC Radio 5 Live, here's what one of them has said:

Martin: I'm utterly disappointed. Whilst the vast majority of Manchester United fans don't want to see the Glazers anywhere near the club ever again. if you're looking for 50+1 fan ownership and those fans are in there smashing up the stadium and inciting violence, then you've got to question whether they are the right people to be making those decisions and if their decisions are any better than the Glazers in the first place. The ball is in the Glazers' court now. It gives the owners a moral high ground now against a fanbase perceived through the media as being violent, disrespectful and willing to trespass to make their point.

  5. Decision coming soon from Premier Leaguepublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

The Premier League says the decision on whether the game will be played or not is due imminently.

  7. 'Man Utd fans have let themselves down'published at 16:35 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

Ex-Tottenham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

What I'm seeing, I think has gone beyond a peaceful protest. If you want to stand outside the stadium then by all means do that, but there's a section of Manchester United fans that have let themselves down. They have their issues with the club and want the owners out, I'm not sure that this is the way to do it.

From a security element, you can ask certain questions but I think the people that are there are doing their job to the best of their ability and this goes beyond their pay grade.

  8. 'Got what we wanted'published at 16:33 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    FT: Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta speaking to BBC: "We got what we wanted, to win the game and keep a clean sheet. We had strong performances individually and collectively we were the better side.

"I wanted to be fresh for today and Thursday so that was to give an opportunity to everybody. That will give us a headache.

"It was an important goal [from Mohamed Elneny] because it gives you confidence and a good platform to start the game.

"We missed [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang] for a few weeks with illness. He is getting back to fitness slowly. Today we played him to see how he was and he looked good.

"I think [Dani Ceballos] was really good again and he showed the character he has to play.

"Winning and playing the way we have done today gives the team comfort and confidence. It's exactly what we need. We believed we can beat them and we did."

The members of the media are still being kept behind barriers as we wait for further news on when or if this game will kick off.

A number of protestors have been shepherded away from the area by stewards and a helicopter is back hovering over the ground.

Former Manchester United skipper Gary Neville urged the Glazers to put the club up for sale.

Neville, speaking on Sky Sports, labelled the likes of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and Juventus's Andrea Agnelli as "dangerous" for the competitive future of the game.

He also criticised Liverpool owners FSG.

Man Utd v Liverpool (kick-off TBC)

    Mike Parrott
United Muppetiers podcaster at Old Traffford

It's been pandemonium. I don't think it's the right thing to do obviously. Last week's protest was nothing like that. It was quite peaceful.

It's not great. On one side, that's how protests work in that you need to send a message but it's also not great. Man Utd v Liverpool is the biggest game in English football but we might not even see that now today. Breaking cameras, breaking glass and rushing the stadium, all these terrible things are not what Manchester United fans want to be associated with.

They shouldn't be doing it whatsoever. I don't think this conveys a message that they want the 50+1 fan ownership which was the original idea. It hasn't really worked in my eyes.

  13. Postpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

Man Utd v Liverpool (kick-off TBC)

    John Murray
BBC Radio 5 Live commentator at Old Trafford

I'm told there has been a meeting going inside one of the dressing rooms to decide what happens next. In the time that we've been here there have been two incidents where people have been brought out of the stadium. They've been allowed to walk freely having been removed from the interior.

In my experience it was only on the approach to the actual gates where we drive into the stadium where there was the first indication that there was something unusual happening.

This is a very interesting decision. It's quite a big decision because of the fact this is fan pressure and whether the authorities, the Premier League and clubs want to be in a position where it's seen that fan pressure can lead to a match being postponed. Also, all of the available dates are used up for the two clubs so there is the question as well as to where this match would be rescheduled.

  14. 'There's no tackles anymore'published at 16:22 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    FT: Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal

    Newcastle United

More from Steve Bruce on Fabian Schar's red card: "The way it is at the moment and the rules are... There's no tackles anymore. I don't think it deserves a red. Maybe it's a yellow.

"Is it dangerous? Not really. We're playing Arsenal so you have to get into them. When that stops it becomes very difficult.

"I have sympathy for Fabian Schar. He tries to win the tackle. Maybe a yellow card but certainly not a red."

  15. 'Arsenal were the better side'published at 16:22 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    FT: Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce speaking to BBC: "We're disappointed because we haven't got near the performances of late. Arsenal played well. It's a poor goal after four minutes. When you're chasing against these lads it's always going to be difficult. Arsenal were the better side today it was as simple as that.

"We are delighted to see we are a bigger threat. Allan Saint-Maximin in the last few weeks has produced all sorts of magic but it wasn't quite there today. We've never thought [we're safe]. We have four games left and we still have a lot to play for. We didn't play well enough today against a decent Arsenal team. We have to regroup, go again and get ready for next week.

"It was simply that service to [the attackers]. I think Allan probably played too deep. He was a little frustrated and got too deep."

  16. 'Important to take confidence'published at 16:22 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    FT: Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal

    Arsenal

More from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: "When you are out for a few weeks you realise how good it is to be back on the pitch and scoring a goal. It was a great goal [from Mohamed Elneny]. I am happy for him because he is a great guy.

"The last five minutes I was dying a little bit but to tell the truth I felt good for most of the game and I was happy with that. The doctors did incredible work with me and I am really pleased with them and have to say thank you to them.

"It was really important to take some confidence as we know Thursday we will need everybody to be ready. Hopefully we can go through."

  17. 'We needed this win'published at 16:21 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    FT: Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: "We needed this one I think. After a few games without winning it was important ahead of our game on Thursday.

"It was a great goal. [Gabriel Martinelli] did incredible work today and he gave me this assist. All credit to him. I was really happy to be back.

"This was the idea for the team. I think we did a great job as a team and we pressed them. We played our game and won."

  18. 'Anything is possible'published at 16:19 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    FT: Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to Sky Sports: "This game showed our focus is still there in the Premier League. We believe that anything is possible if you're picking up points and we wanted to put bad results out of the way.

"We had a great attitude, some moments of real quality and had total control from the start.

"We refreshed the team because we've played so many games. Thursday was very demanding but the team was really committed and focussed on this game and that’s why we won.

"We controlled the game and we accelerated it when we needed to. The early goal gave us confidence which we needed after the defeat on Thursday.

"We have to do as well as we can and finish as high as we can."

"You need big performances and we had that today."

On David Luiz's injury: "It’s incredible the amount of injuries we’ve had. We’re losing big players.

"It’s a shame because David had made a big effort."

  19. 'Second goal was a sucker punch'published at 16:18 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    FT: Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal

    Newcastle United

Newcastle defender Paul Dummett, speaking to BBC Sport: "They were a good team despite the league position. They got in the holes and caused us problems. They were the better team today and fully deserved the three points.

"With the amount of games they have coming up we knew they would make changes but they have a quality squad and they showed that in the game.

"We came out and pressed them high in the second half to try to get a goal. When they got the second it was a bit of a sucker-punch and it killed us.

"Anything can happen. There's four massive games to go. The sooner we get the points the better. We have been in good form lately."

Mohamed Elneny, speaking to BBC Sport after his first Premier League goal for Arsenal: "I'm really happy about my first goal. The feeling is amazing, I’ve been dreaming about scoring a goal in the Premier League. My celebration came from my heart and I thank God for the opportunity.

“It’s great for the managers to rotate the players. Everyone is ready to start, we’re all fighting for positions, everyone gives their best to help the team. It was an important win today as we had the result we didn’t want on Thursday."

On playing in the middle of Ramadan: "If you think too much about the fact you are fasting, then you really will find it hard. But if you don't think too much about it, then it's fine.

"It's also great that the Premier League are giving the opportunity during evening games to stop the match and get liquids on board."
