Rachel Daly is really lucky to escape a booking.

She can't find the angle for a cross so looks to go back, but gets tackled and then pulls down the Austria left-back.

She gets a stern talking to from referee Kateryna Monzul. You might remember she did England men's game against Andorra in October.

The two sides are just sussing each other out in these early stages of the game but England will be expected to have a lot more possession than they have had so far.

Kiera Walsh has started well for England in the defensive pivot role. She's spread a couple of lovely passes out to the right-hand side.

She's going to have to get through some work today. She's joined in the midfield three by Fran Kirby and Ella Toone, who normally play off the striker for their clubs Chelsea and Manchester United respectively. They'll both have to be aware of their defensive responsibilities more.

Alex Greenwood is a great dead ball specialist - I'm not surprised she took that ball - but quite an easy one for Zinsberger, who just gathers it.

Handball. A dangerous free-kick for England as Austria are penalised for handling a Beth Mead cross from the right. Her hands were up, but tucked into her body, so potentially harsh.

Alex Greenwood whips the set-piece straight into the the hands of Manuela Zinsberger. Worth a go, but comfortable save.

Like manager Sarina Wiegman alluded to before the game, England are going to have lots of possession today but it's what they do with it and how well they keep it.

Plus, they have to get used to the elements as the wind plays a massive part in the game of football and I think these first couple of minutes has just been getting used to that.

It's about putting the right amount of pressure on the ball when you're playing it around that back four.

Beth Mead wins England a corner, which they also opt to take short. The ball was moving around as Alex Greenwood was preparing to take it to be fair.

It gets laid back for the Manchester City defender and she curls a left-footed cross into the area but an Ellen White header is comfortable for Austria and Arsenal keeper Manuela Zinsberger to collect.

It really is baltic and I'll keep reminding you of that...

Every time Beth Mead gets the ball there's a huge cheer! The north east (all of it) wants her to score.

    Good covering from Rachel Daly.

Nicole Billa does really well to set Austria on their way on the half way line, and they attack down the left and stand-in captain Millie Bright is done on the half turn but Daly gets across well to sniff out the danger.

    It is baltic in Sunderland.

We can hear the wind whistling around in the effects microphone and Lauren Hemp has just pulled her under-armour sleeves right down to cover hands.

Obviously England are favourites today but internationally, you just never know.

You have got to do the job on the day and the elements might play a part in today's game.

But England are definitely favourites and they will be looking to make it five wins from five.

Austria take the corner short and they were put under pressure and the ball goes out for a throw in.

A waste. Surely with the swirling wind you send that into the box?

Baroness Sue Campbell has just awarded Ellen White with a special 100 caps shirt. The crowd gave her a nice round of applause too.

Will she break the goalscoring record today too? That would be something!

Millie Bright is a natural leader, she's a centre-half and she's very vocal in that back four.

I think she will be great today and she leads by example; not only vocally but also out on the pitch with her performances. I think she'll do really well.

England captain Millie Bright, speaking to ITV: "It's been pretty busy to a certain extent but I have had to put that to one side. We have two massive games ahead and we want to build from the previous games - that's my main focus, to lead the girls out and keep progressing and developing.

"It's a massive game and we want be tested. I think it'll be a great game out there today but first and foremost, we want to keep a clean sheet. Sarina [Wiegman] wants us score a lot of goals but it's also about the performance and doing the right things so we keep progressing."

On team-mate Ellen White's 100 caps: "It's huge and credit to Ellen, the work she's put in over the years - not many players reach 100 caps, so for her to have done that it's an incredible achievement.

"The whole team is so proud of her and hopefully we can go out there and put on a good show and Ella can get the goals. She's always put herself in the right positions so I'm sure it will happen."

The windy conditions at the Stadium of Light will not suit England and it could be something Austria look to exploit.

The visitors are ranked 21st in the world and are seen as England's toughest competition in this qualifying group.

They did draw with Northern Ireland last month, but put a combined 19 goals past Latvia, North Macedonia and Luxembourg elsewhere in the group.

Striker Nicole Billa has netted seven goals in those goals, including a hat-trick against North Macedonia.

England should win but they will need to be switched on.
