    England v Austria (12:30 GMT)

Former England captain Faye White, speaking to ITV, on the impact Ellen White: "To reach the hundred mark is a special occasion, especially as Ellen has had a lot of injuries along the way.

"She actually scored against Austria on her debut in 2010 and since then she's gone on to get some amazing milestones in the women's game.

"From a young age, you could see how hard she worked and you knew she would go onto great things."

England manager Sarina Wiegman, speaking to ITV: "We think [Austria] are the best opponent we will get. They had a hard time against Northern Ireland but this is a different game. Really looking forward to it."

On Ellen White winning her 100th England cap: "It's an amazing accomplishment. It says everything about her and her consistency in the game at this high level.

"And I know after the game it's going to be a really great experience for her."

On Millie Bright captaining the side: "We have some leaders in our group and she's also one too. She has done well in the first two international periods.

"We have a connection as a team and as players and she can lead from the back too, that's why I made the decision."

On the weather conditions: "In the Netherlands we have some of these conditions too. We have to deal with it, this is what it is.

"I expected a little worse actually, so hopefully it won't affect the game too much."

  6. How's the group gone so farpublished at 12:17 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2021

England have faultless so far and Austria have had a good start too and are unbeaten.

These two teams will meet again in the opening game of the delayed Women's Euros on 6 July next year.

If England win today they will take another step towards the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

  7. 'Our toughest game so far'published at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2021

    England v Austria (12:30 GMT)

Sarina Wiegman says she expects Saturday's Women's World Cup qualifier against Austria to be the toughest of her reign as England manager so far.

The Lionesses have scored 32 goals and conceded none to sit top of Group D after four matches.

Austria are second in the table as the only other unbeaten team in the group.

"I expect a tougher game than any other game we have played so far," said Wiegman, who took charge of the Lionesses in September.

"They have a pretty experienced team. They have been growing, they have a very clear style of play and are well organised.

"They have good players, a lot of them play in Germany so we expect a good competitive match, although I do think - and hope - that we will have more possession than them."

Chelsea defender Millie Bright will captain England in today's game and Tuesday's against Latvia, with Steph Houghton and Leah Williamson out injured.

Williamson replaced skipper Houghton, who became England captain in 2014, after the defender's ankle problem, but is now sidelined herself.

"I was a little bit stunned at first. We've got a lot of leaders and experience in the team," Bright said.

"I was just very humbled and honoured to be given that opportunity."

England's match against Latvia will be held in Doncaster, where Bright used to play for the Belles before moving to Chelsea.

She added: "It's crazy, especially going back to a place that I hold close to my heart and where it all began for me really.

"To go back there and for my family to be in the crowd, just to be given that opportunity is one I'm very proud of."

In typical British fashion, most of the pre-match talk from those travelling up north for the game has been centred around the weather.

It's freezing. There were serious travel disruptions yesterday and the first thing I did was go to the shops to buy a warmer hoody.

Perhaps this is why the Lionesses have never played in Sunderland before today?

But in all seriousness, it's a big day for the city and for several England players, who return to the north east.

The likes of Beth Mead, Jill Scott and Demi Stokes are from the area and are in the squad.

Even Sarina Wiegman is excited - she has been watching the Netflix documentary 'Sunderland 'til I die' for some research. Let's hope it pays off...

White is now on 44 international goals and is now just two goals away from equalling Kelly Smith's record of 46 for her country.

With this game, and then Tuesday's against Latvia, White could be a record-holder come the end of this international break.

  12. White joins the 100 clubpublished at 12:05 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2021

    England v Austria (12:30 GMT)

Ellen White has been on an "amazing journey", says England boss Sarina Wiegman, as the striker wins her 100th cap against Austria on Saturday.

White, 32, is also just two goals short of equalling Kelly Smith's record of 46 for England.

"When you play 100 caps that is impressive," said Wiegman. "We will all be really happy when she gets that record, but it is not the main point to get Ellen the goals. We have to score the goals."

White has scored five of England's 32 goals in their four World Cup qualifying games so far.

The Manchester City striker has been Wiegman's preferred focal point in attack since she took charge in the summer, with White starting every match under the Dutch boss.

"[Ellen] is only focused on the game and it will be a special one," added Wiegman. "She is only focused on training and the game. Hopefully she will get a great performance for herself and us as a team."

    Afternoon!

England have been perfect so far in qualifying - admittedly, as you'd expect.

Sarina Wiegman is expecting the "toughest test" of her team so far against Austria today.

England are ranked eighth in the world and Austria are 21st so anything but a win would be a shock today.
