It's been a very exciting first half and Newcastle have created some great chances.

David Moyes will be very disappointed with the way that West Ham have defended set pieces so far.

    That's absolutely brilliant from Newcastle.

West Ham defended a few waves of attack very well, but Newcastle wouldn't let them off the lead.

Thoroughly deserved passage of play that ended in a superb goal. No more than Newcastle deserved for the last 15 minutes of sustained pressure.

At the other end, West Ham are searching for their second equaliser of the game and think they have done when Said Benrahma laces a drive from outside the box which skips just wide of Freddie Woodman's post.

    Jacob Murphy

    Back in front!

West Ham cannot clear their lines and are made to pay for it.

Miguel Almiron finds the run of Matt Ritchie down the left and the Scot hangs a cross into the opposition box.

The balls seems to be flying in slow motion, a whole host of players miss it and Jacob Murphy just lets the ball hit his forehead and it bounces into the back of the net.

Lukasz Fabianski was unmoved, he lost track of it.

Allan Saint-Maximin is always a yard ahead of anyone else.

The Frenchman spots a ball will drop in the box, intercepts it, but cannot find a team-mate with the cross.

    No, no, not like that.

Jacob Murphy's eye light up as the pitch opens up in front of him, but he latches his shot into the top tier.

All the big players have turned up today. The rain has made the pitch quicker which then makes the pace of the game quicker as well. It's such a good game, but I don't think both managers are happy with how their teams are defending at the minute.

    It certainly is.

West Ham almost fashion another chance from a corner which Tomas Soucek heads on but Craig Dawson's follow up is blocked.

Inches away from retaking the lead.

Newcastle winger Miguel Almiron is fed by Allan Saint-Maximin and the Paraguayan drills a shot from outside the box which takes a huge deflection and loops on to the top of the crossbar.

So Jarrod Bowen thought he had a goal but it goes down as Aaron Cresswell's

Meanwhile, Bowen shows excellent persistence to get away from two, three Newcastle challenges to find himself in on goal but debutant Freddie Woodman makes a big save to deny him.

    Newcastle 1-1 West Ham

    Neil Lennon
Former Northern Ireland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The game has been open from the start with both teams having their problems. Players have been able to get in between the lines, between the midfield and the back threes and fours. It's a very good game.

That goal was too easy from a Newcastle perspective. It came from a throw in and it went all the way across the pitch.

It's a balance game again and you feel the anxiety around the stadium, but the fans need to get behind the team again. It's a cracking game so far.

  20. goal

GOAL - Newcastle 1-1 West Hampublished at 19 mins

    Aaron Cresswell

    GIVEN!

After some confusion, the goal stands.

Aaron Cresswell fizzes the ball across from the left and it somehow goes all the way through a forest of legs and nestles in the bottom corner.

There is some confusion over whether a West Ham player - Jarrod Bowen, possibly in an offside position - touched it, but the goal stands and it goes down as Cresswell's.

David Moyes has a huge grin on his face on the touchline, his side are level.
