    Tomas Soucek

What a game, WHAT A GAME!

Michail Antonio pulls his shorts up, runs up to the ball and sees his penalty SAVED by debutant Freddie Woodman.

But the Newcastle goalkeeper celebrates for about one second as Tomas Soucek is quickest to reach to the spillage and lashes home to put West Ham in front for the first time.

That was a magnificent move and Antonio should've scored. But it looks like it's definitely a penalty, there's no doubt about that.

Newcastle are playing a really good side. West Ham are a good team with good mentality but they've been ruffled a lot by Newcastle. They're still well in this game and probably fancy themselves to win it.

    Newcastle 2-2 West Ham

Newcastle have reacted well and put in a couple of decent crosses but Lukasz Fabianski showed assured handling on each occasion to thwart any attack.

Meanwhile, the dangerous Allan Saint-Maximin swings in a cross which Callum Wilson is inches away from converting.

West Ham have always been in this and the psychology of the game has changed again. Does this put West Ham in ascendance or will Newcastle start flagging?

    Brilliant goal.

  10. No Kane?published at 15:13 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

Spurs v Man City (16:30 BST)

It's looking like Harry Kane isn't in the Spurs camp.

The whole Spurs team should be off the bus now because Jack Grealish and Manchester City's players are heading into the ground.

Unless they've snuck him in in a laundry basket or something like an action film.

    Said Benrahma

    Leveller!

West Ham deserve it, they've been the better team in the second half.

Declan Rice dispossesses Allan Saint-Maximin in the opposition half and the ball eventually reaches Michail Antonio.

The Hammers frontman is forced out wide but manages to dig out a cross which Said Benrahma meets from six yards out to power in a header into the net.

It was quite a long way out but Aaron Cresswell decides to have a go but the goalscorer is not troubling Freddie Woodman on this occasion.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 51 mins

    Newcastle 2-1 West Ham

A lazy, sliding challenge from Jonjo Shelvey, it could have been dangerous as he catches Said Benrahma and the Newcastle midfielder gets a yellow.

West Ham won't need to do any defending at all if Miguel Almiron keeps smashing crosses into the Gallowgate End.

David Moyes will have told his side to defend set pieces better during the break.

Don't think teacups will have been flying just yet.

The Hammers are looking to get on the front foot but Said Benrahma is too eager and is caught offside.

  16. Any sign of Kane?published at 15:05 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

The players are arriving at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

All eyes are looking out to see if Manchester City target Harry Kane is there.

I've seen Nuno, Son and a lot of others - but no Kane yet.

Azrael: As a neutral watching this it's a great game. End to end entertainment. Great advert for football.

Lengman: West Ham needs a striker like Braithwaite, he fits their profile so well.

  19. 'Getting our breath back'published at 14:58 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

    HT: Newcastle 2-1 West Ham

    Neil Lennon
Former Northern Ireland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's been a pulsating game of football, both teams have been going hard at it. Two very exciting teams to watch with lots of quality and good open play with lots of chances.

It's the opening day of the season, you're not going to get everything right. From a neutral point of view, it's been a fantastic game to watch so far. We're getting our breath back here.

Both teams have had moments of dominance in the game. Newcastle have been very good going forward and all the big players have shown up.

It'll be interesting to see if the tempo of the game shifts a little bit in the second half, I wouldn't be surprised if it does.

For the last 45 minutes, that's as good of football I've seen in a long time.
