The easiest thing to do is that if he thinks it's a foul then give a yellow card and if he doesn't then let it go on. He doesn't need to drag the captain from the goal all the way to the half-way line for a chat.

It's been a really good game. You can't take your eye off of it.

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga seems to have been given a second final warning for persistent fouling. Hmm.

He's committed four fouls. Nobody else has more than one.

Rob Millward: Does Son remember how to shoot?

Ben Rogers: Has Son got Ederson in his fantasy team? Seems he’s doing everything in his power to make sure he keeps a clean sheet.

Neither side able to hit the target still.

Raheem Sterling lifts in a cross into Riyad Mahrez, who is in space near the penalty spot. He slips as he half-volleys the ball and it's wide.

The ball comes to Jack Grealish outside the box but his curling effort strikes a defender.

Maybe they decided they needed a better defender rather than an attacking option against the champions.

Good strength from Japhet Tanganga to stop Jack Grealish. He's having a decent game. I was surprised he started at right-back instead of Matt Doherty - especially with ex-Wolves boss Nuno in charge.

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Spurs feel like they need a focal point in the box. A couple of times Son Heung-min has played it back when he gets into a decent position.

Spurs need to use Moura, Son and Bergwijn's pace. They need to use their ball carriers to get them up the pitch because they're not going to out-pass Man City.

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

City fans shout for a penalty as a cross hits Oliver Skipp's chest, then arm. That's not a handball these days. They seem to tweak that rule every summer now.

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Neither keeper has had to make a save yet. It's 3-3 on shots.

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

City have the edge again. Ferran Torres lifts the ball into Ilkay Gundogan in the box, it flicks up in the air and maybe he thinks about a bicycle for one second but doesn't take it on.

Now Spurs counter - and it's a dangerous one - but the offside flag goes up.

  14. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Spurs have had 75% of the ball in the last five minutes. A real turnaround in momentum at the THS.

  15. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Spurs cause some danger from the free-kick. Son Heung-min flights it in, Ederson can't get there and Lucas Moura's volley is blocked by Ilkay Gundogan near the line.

Much better from Spurs now. Son Heung-min finds Dele Alli and he's fouled by Fernandinho. Free-kick to the home team.

Son Heung-min puts in a lovely corner, which Japhet Tanganga looks to flick on but Ruben Dias glances it to safety. Dias had hands on Tanganga but not enough for a penalty.

  18. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Spurs have one of the best moments of the game out of nowhere. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg bursts forward from the halfway line and sprays it out left to Steven Bergwijn. He cuts inside, a defender slips and his shot is blocked by another City player.

  19. Postpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

I can confirm Jack Grealish's Manchester City socks don't pull up any better than his Villa ones.

  20. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Son Heung-min puts in the corner and Nathan Ake heads away. City have the chance to counter but they slow it down - and Ederson gets his first touch.
