    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Fernandinho goes so close for City. They play the corner short and Benjamin Mendy lofts it into the box.

Hugo Lloris is a long way from home and tries to punch but Fernandinho gets his head onto it first. Luckily for Lloris and Spurs it's just wide.

Ilkay Gundogan shoots from the free-kick - near the corner of the box really so a bit wide - and it hits the head of Oliver Skipp and goes out for a corner.

Ted Scott: It’s a statement not playing Kane. Son will adapt well upfront but surprised about Deli Ali having a start, he’s got a lot to prove.

Jack Lovatt: Grealish isn't living up to that price tag at all, bang average first minute for him.

Free-kick to Manchester City right on the edge of the area. Jack Grealish rides one tackle and is then clipped by Oliver Skipp.

He falls into the box but the foul was outside.

We can't talk about this fixture without mentioning Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

The big issue is that no-one knows which of these teams he will be playing for in September. Watch this space.

As for the game, Manchester City are without the injured Phil Foden but they are not exactly short of creative attacking players, are they?

This is a new start for Spurs under Nuno and they have a couple of new players too, but I don't see them stopping City from taking the three points.

    Prediction: 0-2

No orthodox strikers for either team today. Our graphics show Ferran Torres and Son Heung-min in the number nine roles.

Spurs v Man City (16:30 BST)

Tottenham have only won five of their past 17 Premier League matches without Harry Kane. One of those victories was 2-0 at home to Manchester City in February 2020.

Son Heung-min - who starts today - has scored six goals in all competitions against Manchester City, including in all three meetings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

I think it might be a challenge for Jack Grealish to settle into this team. When you're the main man at Aston Villa and carry the team, how is he going to cope with not being that player anymore?

But good players become even better players when there are good players around them. Grealish is never fearful and he embraces this kind of pressure. I'm really excited to see how he performs today and I think he'll relish it.

This Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a magnificent sight with a packed crowd and there is a real sense of anticipation as it is at its full capacity once more.

Big day for new Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo although he is without his main marksman Harry Kane.

One young Manchester City fan has put a bid in with a small cardboard slogan reading: "Kane. Come To City To Ease Your Pain."

    Time will tell.

If the Premier League was like WWE wrestling, Harry Kane would suddenly run out in a Manchester City jersey.

Hugo Lloris equals Darren Anderton's club record of 299 Premier League appearances for Tottenham Hotspur today.

That's quite impressive from Anderton considering he was famous for always being injured.

Spurs v Man City (16:30 BST)

This is Spurs' first competitive game since Nuno Espirito Santo replaced Jose Mourinho (with Ryan Mason in between).

Andre Villas-Boas is the only one of Spurs' last six bosses, including caretakers, not to win his first Premier League match in charge.

Spurs were unbeaten in pre-season, including in games against Chelsea and Arsenal.

  17. 'Penalty looks really harsh to me'published at 16:23 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

    FT: Newcastle 2-4 West Ham

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce speaking to Sky Sports:

"Defensively we've got to be better. For me the big turning point is the penalty. I know we've made a big thing of VAR, for the life of me I can't understand why the referee who is 10 yards away can't just come and check because I think he comes and checks then he thinks differently. It was a decent game in the first half, but defensively we have to admit we have to be better.

"That's what VAR is supposed to be there for. I've looked at it four or five times and it looks really harsh to me. Martin [Atkinson] is 10 yards away from it, why doesn't he go and check it rather than asking somebody's opinion 300 miles away?

"We were always a threat and just after half-time we had the chance to score again. We have to sharpen up defensively that's for sure. Once we leave ourselves exposed then it becomes difficult for us. Overall I was really pleased with a lot of it but we have to be better defensively."

On any potential new signings: "We're all looking. We're delighted that we've been able to bring Joe Willock in but we'll never stop looking. We always want more as managers and coaches but as we stand we're exactly where we were and if we can add a little bit more to it then we'll try."

Jonathan Ridgway: I actually think Spurs have a decent chance today against Man City. Nuno knows how to play counter-attacking football and Son is great at executing it. At the very least I think they'll grab a goal.

John Arundell: Wow Man City line up looks like your football manager dream team. Just reading the line up will put some teams from coming out to play.

  19. 'We showed a lot of character'published at 16:20 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

    FT: Newcastle 2-4 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes tells BBC MOTD: "I really enjoyed it, I thought we played well in the first half and if you come here in front of 50,000 supporters and go a goal down after three minutes, we showed a lot of character.

"We gave Newcastle a bit of a leg up with the goal before half-time, we did not deserve to go 2-1 behind. We kept at it, the players who performed really well last season have started well this season.

On Said Benrahma: "We want him to be really important and brought him in with that intention but it sometimes takes players time to settle. We are beginning to see more from him. I liked his goal but his pass for one of the goals was even better.

"We have the capability of a team that can attack and score goals. We have to make sure we don't concede two everytime because it makes the job more difficult.

"We play the way away like we do at home, I can see an evolution of the team and have a great trust in how they are playing. I was angry with the goals but I thought we played pretty well today.

"Our away support today was terrific and if I was a West Ham fans today seeing four goals it will make the trip down south much easier. We have to try and keep picking up points and stay about the top teams.

"If they play like that, I don't need anybody else."

  20. 'It's a big mess'published at 16:18 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

Tottenham v Man City (16:30 BST)

    Karen Carney
Former England and GB international on BBC Radio 5 Live

On Harry Kane: I think everyone just wants this resolved. I think it's down to Daniel Levy and he's playing hardball. He holds all the cards. If he wants to keep him until the price is right he will and it looks like Manchester City haven't met the price and that's it.

But it needs to be sorted for both sets of fans. I also think that if Kane does go, then someone needs to come in to replace him. So, there's probably a lot of reason as to why it's not working at the moment. There's a lot of factors going on and it's a big mess.
