It has been quite sedate from Burnley, apart from the two strikers. Arsenal have had lots of possession, but I've not seen much of Bukayo Saka or Nicolas Pepe. The quality in the final third has been poor. This is testimonial pace.

Bukayo Saka is tripped right on the edge of the Burnley box by Ashley Westwood. A shot at goal surely coming up...

Delightful football from Manchester City, Raheem Sterling slipping a pass through to Gabriel Jesus, who attempts to pick out Bernardo Silva in the box but the ball from the Brazilian has too much on it and the Portugal international cannot stretch enough to convert.

Good defending from William Troost-Ekong, getting his body in between ball and man to deny Josh Sargant a clean strike at goal.

There is definitely a threat from Palace. Christian Benteke tries to get away, but has Ibrahima Konate for company all the way. The defender blocks the shot when it comes to concede a corner.

The corner breaks to the edge of the box and a shot is on for James McArthur, but it is blocked.

It looked like heading for the far corner of the net but Raheem Sterling doesn't get enough bend on his strike and the effort flies wide.

Jordan Ayew immediately turned to look back at Patrick Vieira after whipping a cross in for Christian Benteke.

He got what he wanted, a thumbs up from the boss and a gesture to say "keep going".

Nicolas Pepe's low ball is easy for Nick Pope to gather. After Adama Traore's 'lots of drive but no end product' showing earlier, Pepe is another one who could do with proving he can pack a punch at the end of good approach work.

Meanwhile, Norwich full-back Max Aarons has done himself some damage after colliding with team-mate Tim Krul.

It looks like a knee problem for the defender.

Palace have done pretty well so far at Anfield. They've been put under pressure but have come away from it largely unscathed. Only one really clear opening so far. And they're having flashes of looking a threat at the other end.

The Manchester City fans are lively, but their players have not really got going yet. Ilkay Gundogan just headed over from a good position in the home side's best attack so far, but this has been a strangely lethargic opening 20 minutes from Pep Guardiola's side and Saints have seen plenty of the ball in the home side's half.

Boom! All the Burnley lads are up and Nick Pope hammers a free-kick straight to opposite number Aaron Ramsdale. A waste.

Ilkay Gundogan was on the goal trail last season but cannot divert Kyle Walker's deep cross to the back post on target.

I'm really happy with how Southampton are defending at the moment against Man City. They have been really, really solid.

Their manager will be really happy with the start they have produced and it doesn't look like it will be one of those 5-0 games. They are in the ascendance, Man City but Southampton are putting up a good defensive performance. It's not as easy as I thought it would be for City.

Ashley Barnes in the thick of it again. This time it is to stick a hand in the face of Kieran Tierney. He protests the free-kick. Not sure how he can?
