Harry Kane has scored only one free kick for Spurs & England in his entire career. Why hasn’t he, his managers & his team mates worked out that free kicks is not a good part of his game? Please someone tell Kane to stop taking free kicks & get in the box to do what he does best.

  2. Spurs struggling badlypublished at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2022

    Spurs 0-1 Chelsea

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Chelsea in complete control. Spurs cannot lay a glove on them and the atmosphere inside this stadium is very subdued apart from the sound of noisy, joyous visiting supporters.

  3. 'Chelsea are smothering Spurs'published at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2022

Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea (0-3 on aggregate)

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea are all over Spurs at the moment. They are smothering them completely; Tottenham can't get out of their half.

If they have the ball, Chelsea have the arrogance to say ''we are going to take it back when we want'. That is what they are doing, and they are creating at the same time.

Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea (0-3 on aggregate)

Tottenham just can't get the ball. Chelsea, the away side, sitting with 73% of possession.

Spurs chasing shadows, Chelsea in complete control. Conte needs to do something about this.

Twenty-five minutes gone in a home semi-final and you've not had a shot on target. Not good enough.

Unfortunately Tanganga just isn't good enough for this level, positional sense and range of passing is poor.

Romelu Lukaku is such a handful. He links up well with Timo Werner and it eventually falls to Callum Hudson-Odoi, who shoots low at goal from just outside the penalty area.

Pierluigi Gollini, at fault for Chelsea's goal, does well to get down quickly to his left and parry it away with no visiting player close to the rebound.

Chelsea looking to get the job done early.

  8. 'Shambolic'published at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2022

Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea (0-3 on aggregate)

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It has felt like it has been coming. Spurs have been unable to contain this rampant Chelsea team.

It is a set piece that has undone them, a simple corner. Such poor defending, Rudiger gets a free run, nobody goes with him. It is a shambolic goal to concede.

  9. Chelsea in for the killpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2022

Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea (0-3 on aggregate)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Chelsea started with real attacking intent, clearly determined to put this semi-final to bed as quickly as possible and that goal from Antonio Rudiger may just have done it.

Scrappy and poor keeping from Gollini but the elated Chelsea fans are not complaining.

    GOAL - Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea (0-3 on aggregate)published at 17 mins

    Antonio Rudiger

Chelsea get the dream start. It's a corner from the left wing, swung in by Mason Mount but it's a disaster for back-up goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.

He's come for the corner with both fists, completed missed the ball and it bounces off the back of Antonio Rudiger, with the ball going in off the underside of the bar.

Spurs fans were wondering why Hugo Lloris was on the bench for their most important match of the season. Antonio Conte's got this one wrong.

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea (0-2 on aggregate)

Malang Sarr has a chance for Chelsea after Timo Werner's low cross, but Giovani lo Celso does superbly, sliding in in front of the ball to send it behind for a corner, which comes to nothing.

It would be a long, long way back if Chelsea can stretch their aggregate lead to three.

  12. 'Lukaku is a bully'published at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2022

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea (0-2 on aggregate)

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Lukaku's weight, power and strength and pace got him that yard ahead of Davies. It is his asset, the sort of play you are used to seeing from him. He is able to bully players.

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea (0-2 on aggregate)

A very good start to this one. Lucas Moura strikes at goal for the hosts, but the radar is a bit off, he was a bit off balance too, and sends it yards wide.

  14. Postpublished at 12 mins

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea (0-2 on aggregate)

    Lukaku... No.

It's a long ball forward, Romelu Lukaku holds off Ben Davies' challenge and the Belgian's left-footed strike is saved by Pierluigi Gollini.

But the ball bounces off Japhet Tanganga and is heading towards his own goal, but luckily for him it drifts just wide.

Spurs conceded an unfortunate own goal in the first leg when Tanganga headed against Ben Davies, with the ball ricocheting into the net, but they get a bit lucky on that occasion.

  15. Postpublished at 10 mins

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea (0-2 on aggregate)

Chelsea's Timo Werner tries to loft it into the net from long range, but it is a pretty rubbish effort and goes off target.

Right idea as Gollini was off his line, just the execution that let the German down.

  16. 'Chelsea are very narrow'published at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2022

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea (0-2 on aggregate)

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea are very narrow. It is an interesting tactic from Tuchel; Mount and Hudson-Odoi are not exactly hugging the touchline. They are very central, just in front of Jorginho and Kovacic. A lot of space for the full-backs to run into.

  17. Postpublished at 7 mins

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea (0-2 on aggregate)

Harry Kane takes the free-kick 22 yards out, but it is wasteful and into the wall. Spurs recycle the ball and keep it alive, but Chelsea see it out for a goal-kick and that was a good chance that vanishes into thin air.

  18. Postpublished at 6 mins

Thomas Tuchel has won all five of his matches against Tottenham, but has to watch as his team concede a free-kick in a dangerous area as Andreas Christensen chops down Giovani lo Celso from behind.

  20. Tuchel already animatedpublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2022

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Only seconds in and Chelsea manager Thomas Tiuchel spotted something he didn't like, jumping up and down and waving his arms around frantically.

Tuchel not taking anything for granted even with that healthy lead.
