Some fine work from Tanguy Ndombele wins Spurs a corner. He's been really good this half.
Newcastle 1-2 Tottenham
Son Heung-min is the big threat for Newcastle. He is taking up some really smart positions between the home defence and midfield.

There has been lots of moaning this season about assistant referees not raising their flags until the play is ended. Kane's goal shows exactly why the rule is there, and is correct.

Newcastle survive as Tottenham break in numbers. It looks like Spurs will pick them off, but Tanguy Ndombele's pass across the box is poor and cut out.

With no new players until January the only change that can be made is the manager, I feel sorry for Bruce but he has to go.

You know you have problems when Kane scores against you. Newcastle look disorganised at the back and need a leader.

Newcastle 1-2 Tottenham
There is a calmness about Spurs that Newcastle just don't possess. The home side's best moments are largely born of the frantic contributions of Alain Saint-Maximin. But elsewhere on the pitch, control is weak and passes often sold short.

Sean Longstaff is in the block for clattering Lucas Moura. Don't think he can have any complaints.

Callum Wilson's vision to see the run of Allan Saint-Maximin was magnificent. He was millimetres away.
Anything Saint-Maximin does in the game, it lifts the fans and it lifts the players around him.
Newcastle 1-2 Tottenham
There is a small break in play as Joelinton gets a bit of treatment and Sergio Reguilon has a contact lens pout back in his eye.
Newcastle 1-2 Tottenham
Oh, so, so, so close to 2-2.
Callum Wilson holds the ball up in the Spurs box. He knows Alain Saint-Maximin is coming. The ball across is just inches from being perfect, but the sliding winger can't make contact under pressure. The ball rolls agonisingly out for a goal-kick.

Oh, that's a chance!
Son Heung-min swings in a lovely Tottenham corner that is perfect for someone to get a touch but nobody does.

The Tottenham fans have found their voices as you might expect and are happy to point out that Newcastle are a not very good Manchester City, or words to that effect.
Steve Bruce and Graeme Jones were screaming at Newcastle's players to get further up the pitch as we awaited that VAR decision.
It will be interesting to see how the home fans respond now. Bruce has so far been left alone.
Newcastle 1-2 Tottenham
What a difference 20 minutes make. Grave faces now in the Newcastle directors' box.
In a way, it is good that they are getting the lesson in early that football likes nothing more than kicking you in the teeth.

Look at the surprised looks on the faces round the ground, the most surprised of all is Harry Kane. He thought he was off. He bent his run and then what a lovely finish it was.
That was onside, absolutely 100%.
Doesn't that just underline the problems Newcastle have? A simple ball in-behind. It's not complicated stuff.
Newcastle 1-2 Tottenham
That moment really has dealt a hammer blow to the home fans. All that early momentum, all that drive and purpose, whipped away from them like a rug under their feet.
Harry Kane
And just like that, after the earliest of setbacks, Tottenham have turned it around.
It's a wonderful finish from Harry Kane, who runs on to the ball behind the home defence to reach Pierre Emile Hojbjerg's pass and flicks the ball superbly past the onrushing Karl Darlow.
He's still got it, I don't care what they say!
Newcastle 1-1 Tottenham
He's on. This is going to count. Harry Kane timed his run to perfection.
Newcastle 1-1 Tottenham
The home fans breathe again. Harry Kane flicks the ball into the net but the flag is up for offside.
But wait, this looks close...
Newcastle 1-1 Tottenham
You can hear the Tottenham fans now. The equaliser has definitely taken the ferocity out of the crowd.
