    Reading 3-0 Aston Villa

It's all over at the Madejski Stadium, where Reading claim a much-needed first win of the season after a clinical display against an out-of-sorts Villa side.

All of the goals came in the first half, with Amalie Eikeland, Rachel Rowe and Natasha Dowie putting the Royals in a commanding position at the break.

Villa were unable to muster much of a response in the second half, although Alisha Lehmann did strike a post.

It's exactly what Reading needed in their last league game until 7 November - three thoroughly deserved points.

Arsenal certainly finished the second half very strongly. They’ve got Kim Little on the ball in the middle and they’ve been so successful down the left.

    It’s a joy to watch.

  7. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

    Arsenal 2-0 Everton

    Jump, Toni!

A lovely ball is floated into the box by Everton and it seems certain that Toni Duggan is going to reduce their deficit but she doesn't get off the floor and the ball floats just over her head and out for a goal kick.

Did she lose it in the sun? A big opportunity for the visitors.

  8. Postpublished at 86 mins

    Reading 3-0 Aston Villa

The game is drifting towards a drama-free conclusion with Villa still without a shot on target.

Job done for Reading you'd have to say at this stage.

  9. goal

GOAL - Brighton 2-1 Tottenhampublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 10 October 2021

    Kit Graham (88 mins)

    An immediate response from Tottenham.

The ball is worked to Kit Graham on the edge of the area and she coolly finishes. The game is well and truly on again.

There will be three minutes added on at the end of the first half.

  11. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Arsenal 2-0 Everton

    Sloppy from Arsenal.

They try to pass across their 18-yard line, but the ball hits Lotte Wubben-Moy and drops for Izzy Christiansen but her effort from distance is easy for the keeper.

She probably could have drove with that ball and then shot.

  12. Postpublished at 44 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Birmingham

But still we wait for the opener in Dagenham.

Birmingham have just posted their first shot on target as Lucy Quinn curls one from range straight at West Ham keeper Mackenzie Arnold.

A simple save for the Australian.

  13. 'Nobody anywhere near Wubben-Moy'published at 15:44 British Summer Time 10 October 2021

    Arsenal 2-0 Everton

    Kelly Smith
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Wubben-Moy was unmarked coming in at the far post – nobody was anywhere near her.

Again, I think Sandy MacIver should have done better with that ball.

  14. goal

GOAL - Brighton 2-0 Tottenhampublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 10 October 2021

    Victoria Williams (86 mins)

From a corner, Victoria Williams ghosts into the box unchecked at the far post and bundles home Brighton's second.

Just four minutes remain. Surely that's game over now.

  15. goal

GOAL - Arsenal 2-0 Evertonpublished at 41 mins

    Lotte Wubben-Moy

    The leaders are in control.

An Arsenal corner is whipped in from the right, and three Everton players collide, leaving the two on the ends on the floor.

That leaves Lotte Wubben-Moy with a free header. She gets a good connection, and heads it down, between the legs of Sandy MacIver and the ball trickles over the line.

  16. 'Intricate play'published at 15:41 British Summer Time 10 October 2021

    Arsenal 1-0 Everton

    Kelly Smith
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Arsenal are getting a lot of joy down the left-hand side, especially when Katie McCabe can dribble into the space.

It’s intricate play with Mana Iwabuchi just inside and Tobin Heath overlapping. It’s very effective.

  17. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Arsenal 1-0 Everton

There's starting to become a real pattern to this game.

Everton are really narrow, so they are consistently being overloaded at the back post.

This time the ball doesn't get far, but reaches Vivianne Miedema in the middle, and her looping header lands on the roof of the net.

  18. Postpublished at 35 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Birmingham

Better from West Ham who continue to pile on the pressure against Birmingham.

Hammers' Tameka Yallop goes close, heading a deep Adriana Leon cross over the bar.

  19. 'Goalkeeper should have done better'published at 15:36 British Summer Time 10 October 2021

    Arsenal 1-0 Everton

    Kelly Smith
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 live

I do think the goalkeeper should have done a little bit better. It came to her at hand-level but she wasn’t strong enough – but it’s a great strike by Katie McCabe.

  20. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 74 mins

    Reading 3-0 Aston Villa

That's the closest Villa have come!

Alisha Lehmann makes good progress down the left before cutting back inside. She sends a measured right-footed shot towards goal.

Grace Moloney looks beaten, but the ball clips the outside of the post and out for a goal kick.

Reading closing in on a first win of the season.
