But wait... Spain have a free-kick on the right edge of the box. Felicitas Raunch is booked for her foul. She'll miss the next game now.
Germany 1-0 Spain
Sara Dabritz tries to find German team-mate Alexandra Popp in the box but Spain keeper Sandra Panos is out to punch clear.
Soon after, Giulia Gwinn gets into a good position to fire a cross right through the box and out for a throw.
Germany enjoying a decent spell.
Germany 1-0 Spain
Here is the goal that separates the two teams...
Germany 1-0 Spain
Spain boss Jorge Vilda looks more frustrated. He lets out a breath of air and shakes his head as another attempt to construct a neat move falls flat. Not clicking yet.
Germany 1-0 Spain
The Germany manager Martina Voss-Tecklenburg applauds her side before yelling instructions to a player or two. She'll be very chuffed with how things are going so far.
Germany 1-0 Spain
Kiara Buhl is in the hunt for another goal.
She cuts inside from the right and beats one defender, but can't get past the Irene Paredes, showing both anticipation and strength to see off the threat.
Germany 1-0 Spain

Former Leeds striker on BBC Two
Germany will be happy with their shape out of possession.
They are making Spain play in front of them which is a lot more comfortable as a defender.
Germany 1-0 Spain
Fine effort!
Mariona Caldentey gets the ball quickly out of her feet on the edge of the box and sends a dipping shot just wide of the far post.
They are getting closer.
Germany 1-0 Spain
I dread to think what that pass count is going to look like come full-time. Spain have near total dominance of the ball.
Germany are a tough old nut to crack, though.
Germany 1-0 Spain
Spain have completed 101 passes. Germany just 16.
Tells a story of the contrasting styles.
Germany lead, though.
Germany 1-0 Spain
Spain test German keeper Merle Frohms, but Sheila's effort from range is soft and easy to save.
It was a neat shift of the ball inside, but no power after it.
Germany 1-0 Spain
When Germany do win the ball back they don't half shift it. Spain are almost undone after a lazy bit of play in the middle. Thankfully, Irene Paredes is alert and can get over to tackle Kiara Buhl.
Germany 1-0 Spain
Germany are far less preoccupied with possession. They want the transitions. To force mistakes from Spain and hit them when they are out of shape.

Quick play from Spain. They like to play vertically.
The pass beats seven Germany players. Lucia Garcia has taken it too wide but it is terrific play.
She didn’t have the composure and it’s a let off for Germany.
Germany 1-0 Spain
Now Spain are finding their feet. They are almost in down the right before Giulia Gwinn slides in to tackle.
Germany 1-0 Spain
Natasha Dowie
Reading and England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live
She's got to finish this. The touch is too heavy, it had to be 1-1 there. It's a real let-off for Germany.
Germany 1-0 Spain
That moment right there is what Spain are all about. Neat, precise passing to open an opponent up. The press was beaten, the defence scrambling, but it remains 1-0.

Germany's performance in their victory over Denmark was considered by many to be one of the best of the tournament so far, up there with England's thrashing over Norway and France's win over Italy.
BBC Sport asked England midfielder Jill Scott last night if she would rather avoid Germany in the quarter-finals but she wouldn't give anything away.
If Germany beat Spain to top this group, they will face the runner-up of England's group which will be Austria or Norway.
England, already winners of Group A, will face the runner-up of this group in Brighton - the spot currently being occupied by Spain.
Germany 1-0 Spain
Massive chance!
Spain forward Lucia Garcia is away, behind the German defence from a neat flicked pass.
She draws the keeper out and takes it wide of her, but can only find the sidenetting with her shot.
It's an example of just what Spain are capable of, but so poorly executed in the end.
Germany 1-0 Spain
Spain are really struggling with the tenacity of the Germans in midfield and up front. They want too much time on the ball. Svanja Huth is in the hunt and is unlucky not to be able to carry the ball forward after winning it.
