I think there was a feeling coming in that if we didn't get a result then we didn't deserve to be here, but that is absolutely not the case.

Kenny Shiels is right, we have to put it into context.

Austria claimed a 2-0 win over Northern Ireland to put them in second place in the group of goal difference.

A draw against Norway tonight will be enough to take them through to the last eight.

It's a derby between two home nations so you would expect a feisty encounter on the pitch but it's already heating up off it.

The Northern Ireland fans in the corner are chanting away, banging drums and are on their feet in green.

They have been sensational throughout the tournament and this is their last opportunity to leave an impression against the hosts.

Equally, England's supporters have come out in numbers to support so you would expect them to make themselves heard when things get under way.

The striker took her tally to 52 by scoring in the thrashing of Norway, leaving her just one behind the Manchester United great.

    England

England assistant manager Arjan Veurink tells BBC Sport: "Sarina [Wiegman] explained yesterday why we don't like to change the squad - we're not big fans of making lots of rotations during the tournament. We have confidence in keeping rhythm for players - if you look to the last game and then the quarter-final game it's a big gap, nine days in between so that's the reason we've kept the same players.

On Wiegman's absence: "She was disappointed - we were all disappointed but at the end we all know the world we live in at the moment and we knew it could happen. We spoke a lot about lots of scenarios and this was one of them. But we have to go on, we have to move on and that was also the message from Sarina today to the players and the staff.

"She will be close by so she will have a line to our technical staff - we have spoken about that and what could happen. She will be here although she's not here.

"Not specific [targets for this game] - hopefully we can continue good possession play as we did in the last game, I'm looking forward to that part of the game."

This is obviously Northern Ireland's third game at St Mary's and the sprinklers are still catching everyone out.

It was the referees against Norway, the paramedics on Monday before Austria and now Jackie Burns is the latest to get caught out.

It's absolutely roasting to it looks like bliss, if I'm honest.

Northern Ireland boss Kenny Shiels tells BBC Sport: "I don't know [how they feel] - sometimes you think they're nice and relaxed and the performance doesn't match that and sometimes they look edgy and the performance doesn't match that. It's hard to tell but we want to go out of the tournament by leaving some sort of memento for us."

On changes he has made: "Laura's [Rafferty] a defender at club level - she plays in the third tier in England - she's done well when she's come in and she can play in midfield as well so it gives us that versatility of cover which we don't have up front."

On fans: "I think them very much for what they've done for us - they've been so supportive. they'll continue to be supportive and they make us feel good so it's brilliant what they've done."

Northern Ireland v England (20:00 BST)

    BBC World Service

Former USA international forward Heather O'Reilly was a team-mate of Beth Mead at Arsenal and explains how the England forward wants to "prove people wrong".

O'Reilly told the BBC's World Football podcast: “She’s from the north and I think that when she came down to play at Arsenal, it felt a little bit like girl from the small town comes to the big city and was struggling to find her feet. She was a big fish where she came from.

"It may have taken her a little bit of time in her career to really realise that she belonged in these conversations of starter for England and world class goalscorer. She was though just recently left off the Olympic roster. So she’s not a player that I think has had it easy.

"She’s had some adversity thrown at her that she has overcome. She certainly looks like she’s facing this tournament with a bit of a vendetta, a bit of a chip on her shoulder. I think she’s probably holding onto that Olympic snub dearly and wants to prove people wrong.”

Northern Ireland have been camped in Southampton during the tournament and their fans have made it home.

Walking around the city over the last 24 hours, you could see green shirts everywhere.

They dominated the fan zone today too.

I asked Sarina Wiegman if she thought there would be a bigger "away" fan section tonight and she said she wasn't sure...
