There have already been a large number of feisty, no-nonsense challenges put in at the fan park as friends went head-to-head in the one-on-one arena and parents desperately tried (not always successfully) to not be embarrassed and nutmegged by their children.

The action on the pitch promises to be as hard-fought too with two of the top five nations in the world meeting.

France were involved in extra-time last time out, but we’re yet to see a penalty shootout in this tournament. That’s what happened in the 2015 World Cup when these two nations met at the quarter-final stage with Germany winning through 5-4.

Will tonight have a similar dramatic ending?

People are starting to slowly peter into the stadium, there have been some struggles about people getting here because of the rail strikes so it will be interesting to see how full this stadium will get tonight. There is no parking around the stadium so people are parking 20 minutes away and getting a shuttle bus so it will be interesting to see what people have done. But I'm sure it will be a fantastic atmosphere.

Both sides were pushed all the way in their quarter-finals.

Germany beat Austria 2-0 but the result was far from certain until they scored an 89th-minute second.

France needed extra time - and a penalty - to beat the Netherlands 1-0.
