Substitutions are key, they can have such a big impact and I'm sure Selma Bacha will be hoping for that tonight, she'll be looking to be the match winner.

German Svenja Huth is away down the left but she takes an awful touch and it just runs away from her. She's much better than that.

Early corner for Germany in this second half. It pings round the box a bit and then Svenja Huth's rising drive from near the corner of the box hits the side-netting.

It needed something special to break the deadlock and Alexandra Popp, who else, was the one to provide it, getting ahead of her marker to volley in from Svenja Huth's excellent cross from the right side of the penalty area.

For Popp it continues a great story as she only returned to action in March after 10 months out following two bouts of knee surgery. If this tournament had happened last summer as scheduled before Covid-19 got involved then she would have missed out, just as she did for the two previous tournaments - because of serious ankle injuries.

That's five goals in five games for Popp, but any questions on how France would respond were answered in only a few minutes with Kadidiatou Diani breaking free, firing at goal from outside the penalty area with her shot hitting the post and bouncing in off the unfortunate Merle Frohms.

That's the first goal Germany have conceded in this tournament and it took a while to get going, but this game has certainly sprung into life now.

Before the goal France might have had to think about changing something because Germany were on top, had a lot more opportunities and shots on target. But, scoring in the 45th minute is perfect in terms of getting yourself back in the game, going in at half time and being positive. There's no negative thoughts about not doing enough in the first half. It's still going to be very positive in that French dressing room.

They need to be tighter on Popp for the goal. Both these teams are great on the ball. You cannot allow this German team to have that much space to turn around the deliver that ball into the box. As a defender you need to be touch-tight.

Usually, Diani does not like to shoot on goal. She likes to run and cross the ball. But this is what the coach is asking of her - 'you need to shoot'. She has the ability and she takes the shot that nobody is expecting.

It started off a little bit cagey with both teams trying to work each other out. Germany had the edge and then they get that goal and timing is everything, luck is everything. Kadidiatou Diani definitely got that bit of luck with the ball hitting the post then ricocheting back off Merle Frohms into the goal. She'd done everything she could and covered the goal but you can't really account for the ball bouncing as it did and in off her. The last thing she would want to do is score an own goal in the semi-finals. We've got a perfect second half on our hands now.

It has been a game of strategy. They are both waiting patiently. France are really good down the wings. But we see Germany are not giving any space to any player. A really tight game.

Timing of goals is everything and this is perfect timing from France. Diani suddenly comes to life, she receives the ball on the edge of the box and then unleashes a shot.
