Germany's Alexandra Popp is aiming to become the first player in the history of the tournament to score in five successive games - and nearly managed it from a 25-yard free-kick only to be denied by a fine save from Pauline Peyraud-Magnin, who flung herself to her right to keep it out.

However, the France keeper has shown some suspect handling and twice failed to get much distance on punches. Expect Germany to fling the ball into the box when they can to test her.

Defender Felicitas Rauch takes this free-kick and fires it well over.

Another Germany free-kick, about 24 yards out let's say. Maybe 23.5.

Germany get their third corner of the game. Can they make it count?

Nope. They do have a chance though but Marina Hegering's drive in the box is blocked.

Pauline Peyraud-Magnin gets her footwork all right. She shuffles across to the right hand side, it's bent deliciously around the wall, she gets a good sighting of it but what she also gets is two huge strong hands to it to push it round the post. That is a magnificent save.

It is the first we've seen of Brandt. She's a tall player, direct. She gets her body in front of the defender and draws the foul.

It was a really well struck free-kick. Accurate and had the power. The French keeper didn't see it until the last minute.

    What a save!

Alexandra Popp steps up for the free-kick as we're expecting a curler towards the near top corner but instead she tries to bend it to the far corner and Pauline Peyraud-Magnin dives to tip the ball round the post.

Quite a few fouls by France so far. Jule Brand goes on a lovely run for Germany and Sandie Toletti wipes her out on the edge of the box. She's booked too.

She was just trying to catch Pauline Peyraud-Magnin out there with the free-kick whipped in. She's not going to manage it from there, though.

Germany have a free-kick on the left wing and I'm not even sure if Lina Magull is crossing or shooting but it's a nice easy catch for France keeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin.

Not much in terms of chances for either side, but France are looking a threat on the counter-attack with Grace Geyoro, Kadidiatou Diani and Melvine Malard all seeing a lot of the ball early on.

Germany coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg spoke of the pace of France's attackers and the danger they possess and how they stop those breaks is going to be crucial tonight.

We've still got people making their way to the seats, but a great atmosphere at Stadium MK.

France look quicker on the ball, the way they're playing, they're half a second quicker than Germany so far.

Ooof, France keeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin comes out of her box, slides in for a loose ball which she wins before clattering Lina Magull. After a few moments Magull gets up and it's just a throw-in.

Look at the German players around France when they do get the ball. They surround them and stop them playing the ball. When they have the ball they are thinking 'where do we need to be if we do lose it', and vice versa when they don't have the ball. It takes a really high level of thinking.

Germany have a corner which France keeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin acrobatically punches up into the air and her defenders clear.

Now France break but the German keeper is off her line to gather.

Just as Warnock said that, Kadidiatou Diani got a loose ball on the right and caused a huge scare but couldn't quite find a team-mate in the centre.

Kadidiatou Diani is a box of tricks, every time she gets on the ball she is looking to take the full back on. Felicitas Rauch is going to have to be on her game tonight because it's a big big ask for her to keep Diani quiet.

It is a quiet start in terms of chances. Both teams trying to figure each other out. The two midfield threes are matching up well. Neither side giving an inch at the moment.
