Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers speaking to Match of the Day: "I was really pleased with the first half apart from the goal we conceded. We dominated the game, got into some really good areas, some of our play was really incisive.

"My only issue at half time was the defensive transition - when the ball was dead, we switched off and that allowed three or four counter attacks. But apart from that, we were in a good position.

"In the second half, we didn't get going. We started slowly and conceded the goal from the header and all of a sudden you're having to chase the game again. That is the big disappointment."

How important was this man's save tonight?

Leicester City

Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel, speaking to Match of the Day "We created enough to win the game. We should have been at least one goal up at half-time. Their keeper then made a very good save in the second half.

"We conceded from another set-piece. We're continuing to work on that."

On Aston Villa's disallowed goal: "It's a free-kick. I'm surprised they needed VAR, simple as that.

"At the moment we aren't scoring enough and we're conceding. That's a recipe for a bad run. We're not where we want to be."

Leicester City

Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel told Sky Sports: "It's disappointing, we had enough chances in the first half to go a couple of goals up. That's been our issue this year. We can't perform for all of the 90 minutes.

"It's frustrating, we're working on it every single day."

On Aston Villa's disallowed goal: "It's an obvious foul, I'm surprised we needed VAR, I'm surprised there's a conversation about it.

"He's absolutely whacked my hand. My thumb still hurts, I'll probably need an X-Ray on that later.

"For me, it's not even a conversation, it's a foul."

Marvellous: Gerrard has definitely brought some hunger and fight back to this Villa team. When the adrenaline wears off, we'll know more about his tactical nous. Good times.

Kasper Schmeichel says it was "an obvious foul" and is suprised the decision to rule out Jacob Ramsey's goal needed to go to VAR. Also says he may need an x-ray on his thumb.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard, speaking to Match of the Day: "I thought we were outstanding in the second half, much better. We were passive in the first half. Leicester were good, they caused us problems.

"I'm really pleased with the result but we still need to iron out some issues.

"We need more time on the training pitch to fully understand how we want to play. Can we do it for the full 90 minutes without me having to get on the players' back at half-time?"

On Jacob Ramsey's disallowed goal: "I was frustrated at the time, I didn't think the keeper had it under control. But after the referee explained the rules I understood. That's on me for not knowing the rules.

"There's loads of work still to do. It took a few home truths at half-time to sort our issues out, to rejig our shape and a few other things. But all you can ask of your players is to perform, we did that."

Aston Villa's match-winner Ezri Konsa scored twice in a Premier League game for the first time and in doing so becomes the first defender to score a brace for the club in a top-flight match since Ciaran Clark against Arsenal in November 2010.

Aston Villa manager Steve Gerrard, speaking to Sky Sports: "You kick every ball on the sideline. It was a tough game and went right to the wire. You saw two sides of us, first 45 we gave the ball away too much, we were too open. Second half, to a man we were brilliant.

"I thought Leicester started really well. We were too passive. When we made passes there were loads of sloppy turnovers. We gave the players some home truths at half-time. The reaction was exactly what we wanted."

On the dissallowed goal: "VAR had many looks at it. As the manager of Aston Villa obviously I was frustrated. But they have multiple looks at it. We have to respect the decision.

"Emi Martinez was a lot busier in the first half, but as a unit we defended much better in the second. He made one good save from a good header. Against a big team like Leicester to only concede one chance is very good.

"To take nine points from 12 is a big return from the players. They deserve a load of credit. But there's still work to do. Some of them still need to improve.

"No sentimental thoughts ahead of Liverpool next week. I just want to go there and win. We go there with confidence and belief, we just want to make it as difficult as we can."

Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey talking to Sky Sports: "It is a great result. Certain results went our way before the game and before kick off, the gaffer was telling us we could get into the top half of the table. We did that, we got the three points and got the job done."

On Gerrard's impact: "Since he's come in, he's given us a boost. Before, we lost four games on the bounce. Training has been intense and the standards have gone up; all of a sudden we've won three games out of four. Looking good at the moment."

On the disallowed goal: "I've not seen it back. At the time, I thought it was a goal and I thought it might have been harsh not to allow it, but it is what it is."

Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was tough. I think Leicester had more of the ball and they've got top quality players. We knew if we kept our shape and stayed compact, it would be hard for them to break us down.

"They didn't have many chances, and we've done well to keep the shots for Emi [Martinez] at a minimum.

"I didn't want to claim the first goal, I thought I was offside! I didn't know until after, but two goals and I'm happy."

Probably an unwanted record for the Foxes, a niche one at that... they are the first side to both score and concede a goal in 15 consecutive away games in England's top flight since Burnley from April 1961 to March 1962 (16 in a row).

Brendan Rodgers' side have conceded 10 Premier League goals from set-pieces this season (not including penalties), which is the joint-most of anyone alongside Crystal Palace.

Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard says he wasn't happy with his side's first-half performance and had to give them a few "home truths" during the break.

The Premier League reunion goes the apprentice's way...

That's also the first time Aston Villa have gone behind in a Premier League game and come back to win this season.

Jon: Good win that, Villa should've won by more in the end. Nakamba has been brilliant since Gerrard came in, can't believe he was such an undervalued player before.

Adren: Anybody else think Wesley Fofana is just as important to Leicester as Virgil Van Dijk is for Liverpool? Arguably the reason nobody noticed how bad Leicester are defensively, till this season.
