Alex: This kind of game basically epitomises the competitiveness of the Premier League. Frenetic, end-to-end, contentious moments and raging touchlines. Pure entertainment.

Good defending by Eric Dier to stop Roberto Firmino reaching a ball in the box. Liverpool haven't had a shot on target since the first half.

I agree with Ian from Leigh. Less "game of the season" than frenetic running up and down with some appalling refereeing decisions and woeful finishing. There has, and will, be better games.

Even if Spurs end up ruing those missed chances, it bodes well for the future if they can continue in this vein under Conte

    SteveK, Swindon

The sooner Conte realised that Spurs need to sign a quality stricter the sooner they will start to win.

This looks like a well rested starting 11 playing an overworked mishmash of a starting 11.

Graham Green: Are Spurs channelling their inner Southampton, missing so many sitters in a single game?

Sho: The chances Spurs have missed. Some real sitters. Kane especially.

Dax: Kane definitely not sharp. Spurs could lose this because of that.

Dawesy: Liverpool team need to buy Allison a few beers tonight.

The noise level has gone up in the stadium and that's down to the way that Tottenham have played in the past five or 10 minutes. They have taken the game to Liverpool.

    Spurs 1-1 Liverpool

Harry Kane's five attempts is the most by a player in a Premier League game against Liverpool since Bruno Fernandes' six in May.

Just looking at Antonio Conte, he has his hands over his face. He can't believe what he's seen, the opportunities created and not taken.

People saying this is the game of the season are easily pleased. A distinct lack of quality most of the time.

    Ian from Leigh

I know it has been said before but if football took a leaf out of rugby's book and broadcast what the ref is saying to players and the exchanges between ref and VAR we would surely be in a better place. Less verbal from the players, more accountability for those in the VAR box.

    Spurs 1-1 Liverpool

Another big moment for Dele Alli.

He's unmarked in the box after a great run as the Reds defence switch off but he tries to pull it across to Harry Kane and doesn't get enough power onto the pass. Alisson has time to get across and throw himself in the way of Kane's shot.

    A better pass and that's 2-1.

  18. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Spurs 1-1 Liverpool

Joel Matip goes on a run up the pitch, is in the box and finds Diogo Jota. The Portuguese cuts inside but is tackled.

Spurs counter - with Matip at the wrong end of the pitch - but can't make it count.

Never expected Spurs to put up such a fight after a lengthy break with no football, what a game.

  20. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 53 mins

    Spurs 1-1 Liverpool

Joel Matip shoves Harry Winks just inside the area. You've seen them given... but it was less of a penalty than the one Liverpool didn't get in the first half so no way they're giving that. And it's not given.
