The referee needs to take control of the situation. Too many niggly fouls going on and he is allowing it to develop.

This half is end to end again. Great news.

Very rare that you get a full game with us Reds at the moment.

I think Spurs should take off Emerson Royal before its too late. He really struggled in that half.

Spurs 1-1 Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold whips in a cross from the right, it's another good leap from Diogo Jota and his header loops just wide.

Spurs 1-1 Liverpool

What we need from VAR is accountability, we don't hear from them. They are just people in a room that make these decisions. Nothing is put on them about why they make a decision?
That's why you get situations where Jurgen Klopp is in his technical area absolutely furious. He could have got sent off. He's seen a possible red card not given and a penalty not given. He is wondering as a manager, 'what has gone against us, what are you doing when you are looking and reviewing these situations?'

Gee: So Spurs could have scored three or four more, should have had Kane sent off, Jota should have had a penalty and we still have 45 minutes to go?! I'm sweating... maybe it's the Christmas sweater.
Anthony: It's easy to laugh at Spurs over the last few months and even years but we have played our part in that great half of football just as much as Liverpool have. Could and should have scored more. Also should be down to 10 men though
Spurs 1-1 Liverpool
Since 2017-18, when Andy Robertson joined Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool, both full-backs have recorded 40 Premier League assists each, a tally only bettered over this period by Mohamed Salah (42) and Kevin de Bruyne (50).
I feel I deserved that half of football after covering the Wolves v Chelsea game earlier.

I'm not a fan of either of these teams but that was the best 45 minutes of the season so far. Breathless.

Great game, but have a feeling it will be decided by Emerson or Morton - who will get sent off first. Come on Reds!

Game of the season so far?

Newcastle 0-4 Man City
Manchester City
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola tells Sky Sports: "It's a good result but the first half was one of the poorest we've played this season.
"We were not there. We didn't play in any rhythm we should do and everyone had too many touches, losing balls. The second half was much, much better and closer to who we are. Our objective is to play at the highest level all the time."
On Newcastle wanting a penalty when it was 0-2 and Ederson slid into Ryan Fraser, Guardiola added: "Fraser didn't have the ball, Joao [Cancelo] had the ball. If Fraser had the ball then it was a penalty but Joao had it so no penalty."

It's been a pulsating five 45 minutes. As anticipated, you have two teams who are in really on form at the moment.
Liverpool, their away form has been excellent this season, and you know you are going to get goals from them. Their full-backs have got forward to good effect.
Tottenham, on occasions, have been very, very good. They have held their shape reasonably well and had two golden opportunities to double their lead, which they haven't taken.

Rachel T: The way TAA strikes a football should be framed and hung on the walls of the Tate Modern. And I’m a Spurs fan.
Spurs 1-1 Liverpool
Harry Kane had a chance to put Spurs ahead just before the break but his shot was blocked.
Spurs 1-1 Liverpool
A great half of football comes to an end.
Spurs led through Harry Kane and could have been 3-0 up, then could have had Kane sent off.
Liverpool equalised and were then unlucky not to win a penalty.
Spurs 1-1 Liverpool
Liverpool have had 12 shots now to Spurs' five. The hosts will be happy to hear the half-time whistle.
