    Spurs 1-0 Liverpool

    Ray Houghton
Former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland midfielder

That could have been red. His foot was high and he has not got the ball. Jurgen Klopp was furious. It was reckless and he missed the ball. His foot was over the top of the ball.

  9. Postpublished at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2021

    Spurs 1-0 Liverpool

Harry Kane hadn't scored a home goal in the league in eight games.

If you want to know how long ago his last one was...

It was against Nuno's Wolves in May. In that time Nuno has left Wolves, taken over at Spurs and been sacked by Spurs.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20 mins

    Spurs 1-0 Liverpool

Liverpool want Harry Kane sent off here.

He goes for a lunging tackle on Andy Robertson and catches the Scot's boot - and not the ball.

    He's only booked though.

It was a bit studsy, you've seen players sent off for that.

  11. Postpublished at 16:50 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2021

    Spurs 1-0 Liverpool

    Ray Houghton
Former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland midfielder

Son will have been hoping the flag goes up. What a chance to double the lead. Liverpool exposed themselves with both full-backs too high up the pitch.

  12. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Spurs 1-0 Liverpool

Another 'it should be 2-0' moment.

Son Heung-min runs onto Harry Kane's pass, acres of space again, and tries to go round Alisson but the keeper takes the ball off his feet.

    Son was offside actually.

  13. 'A clear penalty'published at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2021

    Newcastle 0-4 Manchester City

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe told Sky Sports: "It is simple things from our side and we were really disappointed with the second goal.

"We left ourselves a bit open in the second half and they are the best team in the world at picking you off and they are second to none at their ball retention and it made it really difficult for us."

On his side not being awarded a penalty when Ederson slid into Ryan Fraser, Howe added: "It was a clear penalty. I don't want to be a manager that every game highlights decisions that have gone wrong but it's one every game.

"The goalkeeper is clearly out of control and goes into Ryan at speed. The decision has gone against us but it's another one that has a big bearing on the game as we were well in the game. I'm struggling to get my head around why that was not overturned [by VAR]."

  14. Kane is 'coolness personified'published at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2021

    Spurs 1-0 Liverpool

    Ray Houghton
Former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland midfielder

There has been a lot of talk about Harry Kane and the fact he had only scored one league goal but if there was one player in the Tottenham side you wanted the ball to fall to it would be Kane.

He is coolness personified. He has still got the talent and desire to be a success.

  15. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Spurs 1-0 Liverpool

    It should be 2-0!

Harry Kane runs a good 50 yards as spaces open in front of him and crosses for Son Heung-min, who is racing in and hooks his shot wide of the far post.

Maybe last year's Kane-Son deadly duo would have nailed that.

    Excellent start from Spurs.

  16. 'What a finish'published at 16:46 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2021

    Spurs 1-0 Liverpool

    Ray Houghton
Former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland midfielder

What a finish from Harry Kane. The ball through to him was absolute perfection.
