Jordan Ayew is limping. He's a passenger. Palace have made all their subs. It's awful for him too. He is supposed to be heading to the Afcon after this.

All those supporters who left 10 minutes ago will be regretting it now. Even more so if Palace find a leveller.

    Now then!

Michael Olise has made a big impact on this game. His free-kick goes over heads and straight into the far corner of the net.

There will be four minutes of stoppage time. Palace wouldn't dare, would they?!

We keep throwing around the term VAR like it's complex technology with fundamental bugs and glitches... At the end of the day it's just video replays and giving refs a second chance to get it right. Therefore it has been extremely successful in highlighting the utter systemic ineptitude of (most) Premier League officials.

If Palace get another quickly it'll be a grandstand finish. Odsonne Edouard tries to do just that, but fouls Craig Dawson on the edge of the Hammers box after losing control during a driving run.

    Odsonne Edouard

    They've finally got one!

Odsonne Edouard only needs to stick a boot out to steer Michael Olise's fine cross into the middle past Lukasz Fabianski.

    Too little, too late?

Dara Sheahan: Re. Tom in London, what about the times VAR didn't intervene, like when Arsenal or Watford deserved a penalty today? Used to be the ref ran the game. Now nobody *really* does. It's a joke and it's ruined all fairness in the game.

    It is not Palace's day.

The ball breaks to Jordan Ayew in the box but his well-struck effort hits Issa Diop and goes wide.

Palace have themselves to blame for it not being their day also. They've had enough chances to score more than once.

Now can the home side create something from the free-kick?

Microscopic analysis and berating of referees at the top tiers highlights the lack of respect for them at every level of the game. At the end of the day they are making subjective decisions based on their opinion, and to be honest constant disrespect for referees at the top level is probably the cause of abuse of referees at lower levels. It will (and is already to some extent) undoubtedly lead to a massive shortage of referees in the near future. Referees haven't got worse in the last 30 years, it's just the scrutiny that has.

Chance for West Ham to seal it, but after doing well to find a yard for a cross in the box, Nikola Vlasic pouts his low ball behind Michail Antonio in the middle.

Jean-Philippe Mateta has provided a presence in the box for Palace. Hasn't found the target yet, though. His latest header is glanced wide.

Referees really don't help themselves sometimes. Jordan Ayew is clearly clipped as he tries to run into West Ham territory. But no foul is given, presumably because he stayed on his feet instead of throwing himself down theatrically.

Genuinely don't think VAR has got much wrong today. You can't pull shirts in the box, even if the player's already on his way down, and you can't handle the ball in box - a pretty obvious one that. I do think that it's making referees too cautious though as these decisions should have been given before VAR intervention!
