Manuel Lanzini is robbed in the middle by Scott McTominay. Cristiano Ronaldo tries to find Bruno Fernandes but Vladimir Coufal steps in to intercept.

Fernandes doesn't give up though, and wins it immediately back, before Coufal catches him and gives away a free-kick.

Ronaldo's effort strikes the wall from the set-piece, before Mason Greenwood wins a corner.

Things have settled down after a decent start by Leeds and it is pretty even at the moment with most the play happening in the middle. Great atmosphere at Elland Road.

I like Brentford, I like their attitude towards what the man is asking them to do.

I don’t have any worries with Brentford at all, I like the way they play the game.

"It's difficult to rehearse what came our way in the second half. It was direct, it was coming regularly so we had to fight and compete and win second balls. And every single person stood up to that.

"In football there's different ways to win. but if you're not prepared to compete, especially away at Goodison, you'll be found out.

"We expected Duncan to pour more fuel on the fire in the second half. We played big today and I'm really proud of the players.

"This performance was about grit, about steel. I asked the players to really commit because this game was going to ask us something quite alien which is defend long balls constantly and that's what we did."

Decent chance for Brentford on the break. It's drilled in from the left by Vitaly Janelt and only inches away from the outstretched toe of Sergi Canos.

A manageable six degrees in Leeds today, which is good news for this chap.

Although you get the sense he was going shirtless even if it was -1C.

Declan Rice drives into the box but his shot is blocked. Man Utd go up the other end, Bruno Fernandes slides in Mason Greenwood but his shot is also blocked.

Joao Moutinho curls one in from the left and Fabio Silva flicks it on. He's a long way out and can only head it miles wide.

Wolves have found a few pockets of space though.

Decent start from West Ham too. Jarrod Bowen is hurried by Alex Telles but the visitors keep the ball at the back with Craig Dawson.

Leeds are up for this from the off as Dan James plays the ball out wide to Raphinha, he cuts inside looking to get the shot off but in the end the boot of a Newcastle player clears the danger.

Off we go in all three games. Who will be in the top four at the end of the day?

The England midfielder has been heavily linked with a summer move to Manchester United.

I wonder if he could be coming out of that tunnel more often next term.

United know they need reinforcements in the centre of the field.

Everton caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson on Match of the Day: "We are really dissapointed with the result, the first half we didn't quite turn up. The second half we gave everything but couldn't quite stick one in the net."

On fans still protesting inside the stadium: "It is not nice the fans reacting like that."

"There was nothing in the game really, second half we were much better and should have stuck one of the chances in."

On a bottle being thrown at Villa players: "I never saw it but you cannot condone that, that is wrong, they should not be doing that."

On his side's performance: "The training has been brilliant, they have really put a shift in and they put in a shift today. I am really pleased with them, apart from the result. We have got to get it right now, we are starting to slip down there so need to get a result very soon."

Brentford are still creating chances but they haven't been scoring as many recently, and they have started letting in a lot of goals - 10 in their past three games.

In contrast, Wolves are going great at the moment, and they have got the top six in their sights.

We know how good Wolves are defensively and, although they don't score lots of goals, they don't concede many either - 15 in 20 games so far. Manchester City are the only top-flight team with a better record than that at the back.

In the position that Ralf Rangnick is in at the minute and the kind of pressure he is under, Cristiano Ronaldo knows that [his angry reaction to being substituted against Brentford] is not going to help in any way whatsoever.

It is a little bit surprising from him, a little bit petulant. I would imagine he probably regretted it, and I would hope that he did.

But I thought the second half we gave everything, just lacking that bit of quality in the final third to stick one in. The effort was there, I couldn't fault them in any way.

"I tried my best. The players tried the best. Allan has had covid and he's not trained for a week and we put him in. So we made quite a few changes. You just have to try and do the best you possibly can."

On the bottle thrown from the crowd: "I never saw it but the supporters should not be doing that."

On his own future: "I'll carry on until the new manager comes in. That's it."

I never had Leeds down for being in the relegation battle. I think Marcelo Bielsa is an incredible manager, he’s got good players and they play a certain style of football.

They have a DNA, and when you are a football player or fan it makes it easier because you know what your team is going to do.

Because of their style of play and because they always work hard, they’ll never really be in trouble.
