There's barely a cloud in the sky as the teams emerge from the tunnel. Many of the thousands of children inside the ground have air horns and they are not shy at giving them a blast.

A decent atmosphere for a 'behind closed doors' game.

I was at St George's Park on Tuesday with Dion Dublin and we did a couple of interviews with Conor Gallagher and James Justin.

Honestly, it was a real pleasure to speak to those two. They were like a breath of fresh air. I was really impressed with them.

Borussia Dortmund's brilliant 18-year-old Jude Bellingham is competing in a hotly contested central area of England's team but has looked so composed, so rich in quality, that his claims could be irresistible by the time the World Cup starts in Qatar.

Bellingham has looked at home, and more, with England - and with his club in the Champions League and Bundesliga. If and when the time comes for him to leave Germany, every top club in Europe will have an interest.

He has the capacity and the ability to make himself a starter in Qatar and these internationals give him another platform.

It is seven years since a 21-year-old Harry Kane scored on his England debut against Lithuania at Wembley.

His came on as a substitute for Wayne Rooney, England's all-time record scorer on 53 goals.

Kane, who has 49 goals, is closing in on that record.

"I'd love to break it as soon as possible," the Three Lions skipper said. "I'd like to score as many goals as possible in the next four games.

"It seems like a long time ago I made my debut. It's great to be nearer 50 goals, although, I'm still a few behind Wazza."

England are unbeaten in their past 22 games in all competitions (excluding defeats on penalties), winning 18 in the process – their longest ever unbeaten streak.

Indeed, the Three Lions have conceded just six goals in this run and never more than once in a game.

No question about where Gareth Southgate stands on the Nations League. Glorified friendlies? No chance.

"We are preparing for a World Cup, but we are also wanting to develop players and we are also wanting to do well in this competition and try to win it," says the England boss.

“We work in the right way to get the best possible performance on the field."

The previous time the England squad was announced Jarrod Bowen picked up an injury. For the season he has had for West Ham, he deserves his call up because he has been outstanding.

But playing for West Ham in the Premier League is different to playing for England. It'll be difficult for him but he is playing with good players.

Hopefully he will take his chance. I wish him well.

    Hungary v England (17:00 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer in Budapest

Harry Maguire remains one of Southgate's most trusted lieutenants. The manager will hope Manchester United's captain will still be as vital to him in Qatar as he was when England reached the World Cup semi-final in Russia four years ago.

Back then, Maguire's 'man of the people' approach endeared him to the nation but he rejoins England's squad for this international break under much scrutiny after a torrid time on and off the field in recent months.

Maguire had a poor season at Old Trafford, resulting in his name and first touch being booed by a section of his own fans in England's 3-0 victory over Ivory Coast at Wembley in March. It was a chastening moment for the central defender.

Maguire is still regarded as one of Southgate's main men - but he needs to prove he is at least somewhere near his best.

On Jarrod Bowen and James Justin making their debuts: "They have got to do what they do every week for their clubs. You can't put everyone in at once."

Gloriously sunny afternoon in Budapest and a very noisy atmosphere inside the huge Puskas Arena.

As has been widely reported, the crowd for this "behind closed doors" game will most be made up of children under 14 as Hungary take advantage of a Uefa ruling on allowing youngsters to attend with an adults.

And there will certainly be an atmosphere as it sounds like they have all come armed with horns. Very, very noisy in here.

In other news, a big day for West Ham United's Jarrod Bowen and Leicester City defender James Justin as they make their England debuts.

In June 2021 Uefa ordered Hungary to play three games without fans, with the final match being suspended, and fined them £85,000 as a result of discriminatory behaviour by their supporters during Euro 2020.

They were also ordered to play two games behind closed doors by Fifa following racist abuse towards England players during the World Cup qualifier in Budapest on 2 September.

Raheem Sterling and Jude Bellingham were both subject to the abuse, with objects and a flare thrown onto the pitch by the home fans at the Puskas Arena, the venue for this game, as the Three Lions ran out 4-0 winners.

    Hungary v England (17:00 BST)

BBC commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live in Budapest

This game will be far from behind closed doors. We have been told somewhere between 30,000-40,000 children under 14 will be allowed in.

I believe for every 10 children, they are accompanied by one adult. So if there are 35,000 children that means there will be 3,500 adults in the stadium looking after them.

As well as the children, the media are in the ground, there are people from Uefa, security staff.

  20. 35,000 despite banpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 4 June 2022

    Hungary v England (17:00 BST)

Hungary have been ordered to play a number of games without crowds - including this one - after repeated misconduct by their supporters.

But the 67,000-capacity Puskas Arena will be far from empty, with up to 35,000 - mostly children - expected.

England's match with Italy next Saturday at Molineux is also due to be played behind closed doors after the Football Association was hit with sanctions following crowd trouble at the Euro 2020 final.
