  2. Eriksen back in football with Brentfordpublished at 00:59 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2022

Brentford have signed Denmark and former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen on a six-month deal.

Eriksen has not played since suffering a cardiac arrest during Denmark's match against Finland at Euro 2020 last June.

He was subsequently fitted with an implanted cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) - a type of pacemaker.

"We have taken an unbelievable opportunity to bring a world-class player to Brentford," head coach Thomas Frank said.

The 29-year-old won the league title with Inter Milan last season, but the Italians and Eriksen agreed to cancel his contract in December as players fitted with an ICD cannot compete in Serie A.

However, the Premier League does not have the same regulations.

  3. Everton sign Alli in deal worth up to £40mpublished at 00:59 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2022

Everton have signed Dele Alli from Tottenham on a two-and-a-half-year deal for a fee that could reach £40m.

New Everton boss Frank Lampard made the signing of midfielder Alli a priority and believes he can rebuild a career that has stalled in recent years.

The 25-year-old, who has played 37 times for England, made six appearances under Spurs boss Antonio Conte after the Italian's arrival in November.

The first £10m of his transfer fee will be payable after 20 appearances.

  4. Aubameyang joins Barcelona on free transferpublished at 00:58 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2022

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has joined Barcelona on a free transfer after leaving Arsenal, with the move to be announced on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old Gabon striker signed the deal late on Monday evening.

Aubameyang has not played for the Gunners since a disciplinary breach in December but scored 92 goals in 163 games prior to that.

Barcelona feared the move was dead earlier on transfer deadline day, even though Aubameyang had flown to Spain.

He had also been linked with a switch to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.

The former Arsenal captain's departure will save the Gunners - who bought him for £56m from Borussia Dortmund in 2018 - about £15m in wages. But it leaves boss Mikel Arteta with just Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as his forwards for the remainder of the season.

  5. Newcastle make signings but miss out on Ekitikepublished at 00:57 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2022

Newcastle United have strengthened their defensive options with the transfer deadline-day signings of Dan Burn and Matt Targett.

The Magpies have spent £13m to sign boyhood Newcastle supporter Burn, 29, from Brighton and Hove Albion on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

"I'm delighted to bring Dan back to the North East," said boss Eddie Howe.

Left-back Targett, 26, joins the club on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the season.

The Magpies also seemed to be closing in on France Under-20 striker Hugo Ekitike, 19, but the player had second thoughts on deadline day.

Reims forward Ekitike was Newcastle's preferred target after it became clear Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah was not for sale.

  6. Liverpool fail in bid to sign Carvalhopublished at 00:56 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2022

Liverpool failed in their bid to sign Fulham's talented teenage forward Fabio Carvalho before the window closed.

The clubs agreed a fee in the region of £8m shortly before the deadline but the final details of the transfer could not be concluded in time. The deal included 19-year-old Carvalho being loaned back to Fulham.

No deal sheets are used in the EFL and, with the loan back being non-negotiable for Fulham, Liverpool were frustrated in their attempts.

The Portugal-born England youth international has scored eight goals in 23 games for Fulham since making his debut in September 2020.

This month Liverpool have signed Colombia winger Luis Diaz from Porto in a deal worth 45m euros (£37.5m), with a further 15m euros (£12.5m) in potential bonuses, while defender Nat Phillips joined Bournemouth on loan.

The Wales international, 31, had been in talks with the reigning champions, who visit Celtic on Wednesday.

Ramsey has not appeared for Juve since making a substitute appearance in the Champions League in October.

"I am really pleased to be joining a club like Rangers," the 71-cap midfielder told the Rangers website., external

"There is so much to look forward to between now and May.

"I had a number of offers on the table, but none matched the magnitude of this club, with European football and the chance to play in front of 50,000 fans every other week."

Tottenham have signed Juventus players Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, while record signing Tanguy Ndombele has joined Lyon on loan.

Uruguay midfielder Bentancur, 24, joins for an initial £15.9m - which could rise by £5m - on a deal until 2026. Sweden winger Kulusevski, 21, joins on an 18-month loan for an £8.3m fee with an option to buy for £29.2m.

France midfielder Ndombele returns to Lyon for the rest of the season - three years after leaving to join Spurs. Spain winger Bryan Gil, 20 - who only joined last July - has joined Valencia on loan until the end of the season.

Argentine midfielder Giovani lo Celso has also joined Villarreal on loan for the rest of the campaign.

  9. Man City sign Argentina forwardpublished at 00:46 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2022

Manchester City have signed Argentina forward Julian Alvarez from River Plate for 17m euros (£14.1m).

The 22-year-old has agreed a five-and-a-half-year deal with City but will remain at the Argentine champions on loan until July.

River president Jorge Brito said the Premier League champions met a release clause in Alvarez's contract.

Alvarez has scored 36 goals in 96 appearances for River and won six international caps.

Considered one of the most gifted young players in South America, he made his Argentina debut last summer and was part of the Argentina squad that won the Copa America in July.
