What a signing that is for the Scottish champions and current league leaders Rangers. Aaron Ramsey, on loan from Juventus.

He'll be wearing number 16 for the rest of the season. That's the same number that he wore for all but the last three years when he was at Arsenal.

Fully expect Van de Beek to be a success at Everton, similar to Lingard's spell at West Ham. You don't lead that fantastic Ajax team without being able to play a bit. I'd suggest his problem at United has been less about his own talent and more about sub-standard managers.

  19. Botman poised for summer movepublished at 21:20 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2022

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport

Newcastle might have missed out on top centre-back targets, Lille's Sven Botman and Sevilla's Diego Carlos, but there may be hope for the summer.

Sevilla have already said the offer for Carlos was "respectable" but perhaps the timing in January wasn't right.

Botman has told Dutch TV tonight that he was "ready to make the next step" after "concrete" offers from Newcastle and AC Milan. But after staying with Lille to help them this season, he "hopes to make a nice transfer next summer."

You'd imagine that Newcastle have to stay in the Premier League to be in with a chance of landing the highly-rated Netherlands youth international.

  20. Carvalho to Liverpool latestpublished at 21:15 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2022

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Liverpool are still in talks with Fulham over a deal for 19-year-old forward Fabio Carvalho.

Fulham are determined to get a good price for Carvalho and, come what may in discussions with Liverpool, he will still be spending the rest of the season at Craven Cottage to assist their bid for promotion back to the Premier League.

Liverpool's initial offer was £5m and this is one that could go right down to the wire as negotiations drag on.
