Dan Burn has got his dream move to Newcastle - and Wigan got a tidy sum as well.

The Latics negotiated a 15% sell-on for any profit when they sold Burn for £4m to Brighton in 2018.

That means they profit from Burn's return north for £13m.

  3. We continuepublished at 23:02 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2022

But that of course doesn't mean the fun has finished. As long as the clubs have sorted out the relevant paperwork by now, they can still - and probably will - announce more signings.

That means we all can't go to bed just yet. Aubameyang, Alli, Carvalho, Henderson are still in the 'unknown' category.

    We wait...

  6. Brighton's 'superb professional' classy messagepublished at 22:55 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2022

    Brighton & Hove Albion

No ill-feelings towards Newcastle-bound Dan Burn from Brighton manager Graham Potter, who says: "We were not actively looking to sell Dan during this window, but the transfer represents a very good transfer for our club and the player.

“Newcastle are Dan’s boyhood club, and this move allows him to potentially play out the rest of his career at his home club. Ever since I have been at the club, Dan has been brilliant for me. He is a superb professional, adaptable and a great character on and off the pitch.

“We will miss him here, but we understand his reasons for wanting to move and he goes with our thanks and very best wishes for the future.”

Lukas: Jeremiah, 22:23 - Arteta isn't being 'so difficult', it's a statement about the level of standards he wants at the club. Numerous disciplinary issues etc, what example does that set? Guardiola/Klopp wouldn't stand for it so why’s it a big deal that Arteta won’t?

Ross: I'm no Arsenal fan by a long stretch but Auba had chances and each one he threw back in Arteta's face. The fact he contributed very little despite acting the big man made it an easy decision for Arsenal. He was the captain yet acted the fool.
