Paul: 3 Leicester players around Partey and not one of them marked him and left him alone for a free header to score. Can’t blame that on injuries. That was just pathetic defending.

Francis Edwards: Brendan Rodgers really doesn’t get enough criticism. His sides can never get the basics of defending right.

There's been nothing yet from Leicester in terms of attacks, not even a glimpse of one to be honest. They've spent most of this opening quarter defending.

It sums up Leicester all season. Defending set-pieces they have not been good enough.

How can Thomas Partey make a run across whoever is marking him and just head it into the near post?

It’s a great ball but whoever is working on Leicester’s set-pieces, it’s not good enough.

FT: West Ham 2-1 Aston Villa

    West Ham United

Speaking to Sky Sports, West Ham's Andriy Yarmolenko said: "It was so emotional for me because of the situation in my country. It is so difficult for me right now in this moment thinking about football because every day, the Russian army is killing Ukrainian people.

"It was so emotional. To be honest, I don’t know what to say. I just want to say thank you to my team-mates, who support me all the time, every day. To West Ham fans, they also support me and Ukrainian people and also to all British people, because we feel you support us. Thank you, really.

"I felt the support from the fans and I tried to give everything on the pitch because I know how important the game was for us today. I'm not ready for 100% because the last two weeks I train maybe three or four times.

"Since 26 February, I had to rest for four days because it was impossible to train, I was just thinking about my family and my people. I just tried to give everything on the pitch."

On his goal: "Said [Benrahma] gave me the ball. In the box, you don’t have a lot of time and you need to do everything really quick and I was quick enough.

"For me, it is really important to feel the support from the manager and my team-mates and the fans. When I feel it, I give everything for the fans and the club."

  17. 'Martinelli is an outstanding young talent'published at 16:32 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2022

    Arsenal 0-0 Leicester

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Gabriel Martinelli has always been outstanding.

I think his best position is out in the left and credit to Martinelli, he is keeping Smith-Rowe out of the team.

He has been in great form and just called up to the Brazilian national team so there’s an outstanding young talent.

  18. 'Makes a mockery of VAR'published at 16:32 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2022

    Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe speaking with Sky Sports: "Overall it was a very good defensive performance, very strong tactically. Players were resilient to not give away too many chances and I can't speak highly enough about our defensive display.

"Our pressing was good in the first half. We faded a bit in the second half, which is understandable, with the players we have out. We got too deep and they punished us.

"On the ball we could have been better but what has brought us these good results of late was our defensive endeavour and that was present again today.

"Could have been a red but not going to shout from rooftops but the penalty with the use of VAR I cannot understand that has not been given or the ref has not been asked to go to the monitor and review his decision. That makes a mockery of VAR.

"We are still in a relegation battle. Under no illusion we have to respond and we are looking forward to some big games ahead.

  19. 'Arteta is doing a great job'published at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2022

    Arsenal 0-0 Leicester

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It’s the right decision for Leicester, they’ve got a big game on Thursday night so resting Wilfred Ndidi and Youri Tielemans is a smart decision.

It will be a fascinating game, Arsenal are the favourites. These are the games they need to win with Liverpool coming up on Wednesday night, and they have a lot of the top teams to play.

You have to credit Mikel Arteta, there was talk he was under a bit of pressure but he is doing a great job at the moment.
