A tame half really. Liverpool won't care though. They have a 1-0 lead thanks to Diogo Jota's header, a few moments after Juraj Kucka was denied by Alisson in Watford's best chance.

First yellow of the day for Joe Gomez. Joao Pedro was racing away from him on the left and the Liverpool defender decided he'd had enough!

Watford's free-kick on the left comes through to Alisson and he tries to send Diogo Jota on his way down the left.
It comes to nothing but Liverpool win it back in the middle immediately and Mohamed Salah dances past a few players before it's robbed off him in the box.

It's a bit of ping pong in the middle. Watford want a free-kick, it's not given, Liverpool play on and move it over to Andy Robertson.
His cross is poor, Watford's clearance is poor then Jordan Henderson slides it through to nobody in the box and it's out for a goal kick.

The armchair football fan: In fairness to Watford, there's been absolutely nothing in this game. They've totally nullified Liverpool and I'm not sure they really did much wrong on the goal.

He has to track Mohamed Salah all the way down the right and Liverpool win a corner.

It's a decent idea because he had space to run into but the pass is way overcooked.

We talk about the role of a centre-forward and their main job is to get goals – Diogo Jota has done that brilliantly well.
Watford will be very disappointed. It’s a poor goal to give away after looking relatively comfortable.

The Portuguese flicks it into the far corner with his head and that's Liverpool 1-0 up.
