  1. 'We have to enjoy this moment'published at 17:45 British Summer Time 2 April 2022

    FT: Chelsea 1-4 Brentford

    Brentford

Here’s more from Brentford boss Thomas Frank speaking to BBC Sport: “I felt when we have played a top four, top three team, we have had a chance to make an unbelievable result and finally today everything came together.

“I’m not sure how many times a promoted club has gone to an away ground of a top three or four club and then won, it can’t be many, So we have to enjoy this moment, appreciate it, and then move on after that.”

Best day of the season?: “It’s tricky. Top two I’d say. The opening game against Arsenal was also big.”

On Christian Eriksen’s impact: “Every team has 11 players but sometimes you need key players to lift the rest by both playing well and their personality and Christian does that. He is a very good player and I’m pleased he is playing for us.”

  2. 'Our biggest result of the season'published at 17:45 British Summer Time 2 April 2022

    FT: Chelsea 1-4 Brentford

    Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank to BBC Sport: “It’s always easy after, but I said in the press conference if we could win here it would be the biggest result of the season and it definitely is. Before the game I said to the players I think we have a chance.

"Of course Chelsea were massive favourites, they are a top club with a top manager and top players. Top everything.

"And coming in at half-time I think we played well, were aggressive, pressed high, and there was something there for us.

"But when Rudiger puts it in the top corner you think ‘oh no not again’ it’s like the Leicester game all over again. But the character and mentality in these players is very impressive."

United have created nothing in the opening stages here.

Anthony Elanga curls in a decent looking cross but Timothy Castagne heads away with Scott McTominay lurking in behind.

Don't like this Fernandes up front thing at all. Can already see him dropping deep to pick up the ball leaving United with any forward presence.

Another opportunity outside the area for Harvey Barnes, but again the Leicester man cannot find the target.

This time he drags wide from inside the 'D'.

With no recognised striker, Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba are operating in a false nine, number 10 pivot.

Pogba drops off first but when he goes back, Fernandes goes deeper.

I am guessing the idea will be to use the pace of Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga from wider positions.

Interesting to see how it works.

  7. CLOSE!published at 10 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Leicester

Lovely Leicester move but not the finish to match.

Kelechi Iheanacho traps the ball nicely for Harvey Barnes to scuff wide from 25 yards out. It opened up for him.

    Man Utd 0-0 Leicester

Big cheer from the home fans as skipper Harry Maguire comes across to the right to dispossess England team-mate Harvey Barnes.

Luke Shaw said he enjoyed playing for England more than Manchester United.

Well, that early booking is not going to improve his mood.

A yellow card for Luke Shaw inside the first five minutes, sliding late in on James Justin.

Walking a tightrope now for 85+ minutes.

Ryan Howard: Leicester fans often gloat about getting £80m for Maguire. Surely they must love him for that - why would they then chant abuse at him from the stands?

Jon: Every Leicester fan I know raved about Maguire when he was there (although won’t admit it). As soon as he left they claimed he had always been rubbish. And now boo their former player who got them a huge transfer fee. Silly.

James Maddison in line for a late England World Cup call-up?

  13. CLOSE!published at 2 mins

Leicester have a free-kick down the left in the opening two minutes and almost make United pay but Harvey Barnes flicks his header over from the in-form James Maddison's delivery.

Hard to believe it's not Scholes, it's Carrick you know.

Former Manchester United coach Michael Carrick is here today.

Carrick took over as manager for three games following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal in November and did quite well, with two wins and a draw at Chelsea.

He left immediately after the win over Arsenal as Ralf Rangnick came in.

I wonder how this season would have worked out for United if Carrick had remained in charge.

Away we go in our final Premier League game of the day.

  17. Boos at the Amexpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 2 April 2022

    FT: Brighton 0-0 Norwich

    Mike Williams
    BBC Sport at Amex Stadium

Boos from a section of the home crowd greeted the Brighton players at the full-time whistle here at the Amex as Albion drew another blank.

It’s now just one goal in their last seven matches, and no home goal since mid-January for Graham Potter’s side.

It wasn't for the want of trying though, they forced Tim Krul into a string of good saves, particularly in the second half as Norwich had their backs-to-the-wall.

Dean Smith’s side only had 38% possession but will be happy that the result here ends a run of six consecutive Premier League defeats.

Neal Maupay had the chance to become Brighton’s outright leading Premier League scorer today, but he blazed his first half penalty over the bar and couldn’t make amends.

The point means Norwich are now seven points from safety with 8 games to play.

  18. 'We still have 10 games left'published at 17:26 British Summer Time 2 April 2022

    FT: Burnley 0-2 Man City

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche to BBC: "Well you certainly don't want to give an early goal away. You want to see the feel of the game and we didn't. They anticipated the play way better than us. The second goal was very similar. You forget the prowess of some of these players. Raheem Sterling is a top, top player and it was a nice one-two.

"It's more about taking on the games that come in front of you. We had three weeks off so it's been a tough time for some of the players waiting for a game. Our record with penalties is awful and when James Tarkowski got brought down it didn't get given and that might have given us a little lifeline but I have no quarrels because they are a top team.

"We have created chances this season - not so many today. That is the difference sometimes. I think they had three shots on target in the first half and scored two. We still have 10 games left and we're still in a fight.

"It's about what we do from now. We have 10 efforts to get ourselves correct and move forward."

  19. 'Such a massive game next week'published at 17:25 British Summer Time 2 April 2022

Man City v Liverpool (Sun, 10 April - 16:30 BST)

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It’s such a massive game next week.

Liverpool’s record at Manchester City is not great but I am sure it’s going to make for a great game.

  20. 'Came to win - and we did'published at 17:25 British Summer Time 2 April 2022

    FT: Burnley 0-2 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to Sky: “We came here to win the game and we did it. You never know what's going to happen after an international break. The pitch was difficult because the grass was so high but we adapted.

"The goal after five minutes was important but we still had to play 85 more. In the 2nd half they pushed more, they went 4-4-2 and they were more aggressive. It was made more complicated by the fact we couldn’t score the third goal.

"Being in a position to fight for the title is so nice - you want to arrive in April and May fighting for them. This is why we’ve fought for the last 10/11 months. It's a busy week - first we'll think about Atletico Madrid and then after that we’ll think about Liverpool."
