    Aymeric Laporte OG

    BIG deflection!

Mohamed Elyounoussi makes a great run to get onto Adam Armstrong's ball. He takes the ball away from Zack Steffen before curling it back into the dangerzone but it deflects off Aymeric Laporte and into the back of the net!

It's a free header really he heads it wide. He should head it on target really. He should be doing better there.

Good ball to the far post by Tino Livramento and it is just over Shane Long, who feels he may have been pushed inside the box.

Kyle Walker-Peters keeps the ball alive and wins a corner, and then another, before Oriol Romeu's driven effort is straight at Zack Steffen.

Then Manchester City break quickly to win another corner. There's never any time to switch off mentally against Pep Guardiola's side otherwise you are in danger of being swiftly punished.

Mohammed Salisu is down injured. It looks like he fell awkwardly when challenging for the ball.

Some players take it is an opportunity for an impromptu water break because it is relatively warm out there today.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl and Manchester City counterpart Pep Guardiola are giving in everything in their technical area.

Both looking very smart, they are a blur of arm-waving encouragement, Guardiola even wildly applauding a Jack Grealish pass that floated yards over his manager's head and into touch.

    Really good game.

Half an hour in and Manchester City have the lead and are in control but Southampton have had their moments. Better finishing and they could be level so City will want another goal.

That was absolutely brilliant from Joao Cancelo - he just drops his shoulder and whips it in all in a flash. Ilkay Gundogan looks like he's just going to tuck it away but he hits the post.
