  1. goal

GOAL: Derby County 0-1 Cardiff Citypublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Jordan Hugill (55 mins)

It's been a very, very quiet match at Pride Park so far, tellingly so that Cardiff City broke the deadlock with their first shot on target of the afternoon.

Teenager Eli King, making only his third league appearance of the season, deserves a lot of praise for getting and keeping the ball from the Derby defenders in the box.

He off-loaded to Hughill, who scores for the Bluebirds.

  2. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Birmingham 0-2 Blackburn

So close for the hosts to get back into the game!

Lyle Taylor's header is tipped on to the bar by Rovers goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski.

Still 2-0 but the home side aren't out of this yet.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Luton 1-0 Reading

That would have been game, set and match.

Cameron Jerome fires a fierce shot at goal that Orjan Nyland tips on to the crossbar.

  4. goal

GOAL: Preston North End 3-1 Middlesbroughpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Emil Riis (53 mins)

I really, really spoke too soon.

No sooner had Boro seemed to get themselves back in this match, they go and concede immediately at the other end.

With Boro pushing for a second goal, gaps inevitably were always going to open up. Although this was a pretty big one that allowed Emil Riis through to the box, to chase down Cameron Archer's pass.

Riis then calmly chipped the ball over Luke Daniels for his 19th goal of the season.

That's surely Middlesbrough's play-off chances done and dusted now.

  5. goal

    Matt Clarke (52 mins)

This is as end-of-season as it gets.

West Brom defender Matt Clarke is in a centre forward position and finishes like one from close range.

Relegated Barnsley going out on a whimper.

  6. goal

GOAL: Sheff Utd 4-0 Fulhampublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Enda Stevens (49 mins)

Hang on. Could Fulham ACTUALLY lose 7-0 today?!

The champions are getting absolutely hammered in the South Yorkshire sun.

Nice play from the home side ends with wing-back Enda Stevens slotting home coolly.

The Blades will be in the play-offs.

    Luton 1-0 Reading

Good start to the second half in this with both teams pushing for a goal.

Harry Cornick heads over from a tough angle as the home side try and put it to bed.

  8. goal

GOAL: Preston North End 2-1 Middlesbroughpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Marcus Tavernier (48 mins)

    The comeback is on!!

Whatever kind of talking-to Chris Wilder gave his players at half-time clearly worked, as Boro have got off to the perfect start pulling a goal back just three minutes in.

Anfernee Dijksteel whipped in a perfect cross-field pass, that looked like it was a strike at goal itself initially. Either way, Marcus Tavernier was there to nod it into the net from close range at the far post. He couldn't miss, really.

Now then, can Boro push on and turn this match around?

  9. Second halfpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    We're back under way.

A mountain to climb for some teams, while for others the second half is going to played out in a carnival atmosphere.

Preston 2-0 Middlesbrough; Bournemouth 0-0 Millwall

How do you make up five points in 45 minutes Middlesbrough and Millwall?

Plenty of goals are probably needed at all four grounds, but at the moment it's looking great for Sheffield United and Luton.

    • Luton leading Reading 1-0 and will finish sixth unless the Royals can turn it around.
    • Middlesbrough's play-off hopes all but over as they trail 2-0 at Preston and must win, and hope Luton don't, to get a top six berth.
    • Huddersfield two goals to the good against Bristol City and on course to finish third.
    • West Brom beating relegated Barnsley 2-0, Blackburn winning at Birmingham by the same score.
    • Relegated Peterborough 1-0 up against Blackpool and Stoke and Coventry drawing 1-1.

Alistair Griffiths: Re Fulham, very similar to Wolves 4 years ago. Already champions, we went to already relegated Sunderland and got turned over 3-0.

Former Rochdale and Tranmere midfielder on Squad Goals

Kenilworth Road is bouncing, but wow what a present that was from the Reading goalkeeper.

  16. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 0-2 Blackburnpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Ben Brereton Diaz (45 mins)

Oh it's another absolute corker! Blackburn Rovers are having a goal-of-the-season competition all of their own at St Andrews.

This time it's Ben Brereton Diaz's turn to audition and he too delivers the goods.

He picks the ball up from Harry Pickering wide on the left and turns on to his right foot. He's under no pressure from the Blues defenders - so why not?! He steps up and unleashes a whipping, bending shot at goal, which flies into the top corner!

Sensational from Brereton Diaz, his 22nd goal of a fantastic season. Had he been fit all season, could they have been challenging for the play-off spots today? I'll let you decide.

  17. goal

GOAL: Luton 1-0 Readingpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Harry Cornick (45+1 min)

    The breakthrough the Hatters needed!

Orjan Nyland will not want to see this again!

The Norwegian goalkeeper throws the ball down to clear up the field but what's that? Harry Cornick is behind him!

The forward pinches the ball off him and taps into the empty net.

Do they still make own goals and gaffes football videos?

  18. goal

GOAL: Huddersfield Town 2-0 Bristol Citypublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Danny Ward (43 mins)

Huddersfield are taking firm control of this match just before half-time as Danny Ward doubles their lead with his first goal since December.

Pipa makes a good break down the right, cuts the ball in across the front of goal and it rolls into the net from close range.

Some initial confusion as to whether Ward or Bristol City defender Robbie Cundy got the final touch, but Ward has been happily given the honours.

  19. goal

GOAL: Stoke 1-1 Coventrypublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Sam Clucas (43 mins)

Stoke are level against the run of play.

They work the ball out wide on the left and the ball's whipped in to Sam Clucas, who is in the right place to turn it home for his first goal since August.

It's not great defending from the Sky Blues, they'll be disappointed to have let this lead slip.

You know that scene in The Office where David Brent gets made redundant while he's in fancy dress?

That being said for all I know that Fulham fan always has his hair like that and fair play if so.

Also, it's a sunny day and his side have won the league so I doubt he's unduly bothered that they're getting turned over ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
