    HT: Wales 0-0 Iran

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium

"Lessons have been learned," Robert Page said after Wales' opening draw against the USA .

Didn't look like it during that half.

  2. HALF-TIME - Wales 0-0 Iranpublished at 10:50 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2022

Wales fail to clear and Ali Gholizadeh's long-range shot dips in front of Wayne Hennessey, but he gathers.

    And that's half-time.

    It's very, very tense.

A draw doesn't suit either side.

Ampadu has been busier than the M6 this morning.

    Nick, struggling on the motorway

Wales need to go in at half time and watch that Michael Sheen speech again! So tentative at the moment

    Connor

Let's hope Wales bring Gareth Bale on for the second half

James (aware this message will almost certainly come back to haunt him)

Joe Rodon clatters Mehdi Taremi and is booked.

    No complaints.

    Ooooooh close.

Sardar Azmoun just gets a toe to a fantastic cross, but he can't turn it goalwards as Joe Rodon challenged him.

Iran continue to cause Wales' defence troubles.

    Iwan Roberts
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Cymru

If Wales get the first goal, I think Iran's heads will drop. It's hard to explain how much of a boost it gives you going in to half-time in the lead.

    Wales 0-0 Iran

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC One

If it stays like this, a draw is no good to either.

I don't think either manager will change much at this moment in time.

We will have four added minutes.

  9. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Wales 0-0 Iran

    Kath Morgan
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio Cymru

Wales aren't as confident in defence as they are in attack, which is fine, but they're not getting the ball in the box enough to prove that.

    It's sloppy.

    Wales 0-0 Iran

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium

To continue Michael's boxing analogy, it's sad to see Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey this way.

They're like two former world champions struggling to keep up with their younger rivals in the ring.

Wales have to find a way of getting them into the game, without relying on their ageing bodies to graft off the ball.

    Wales 0-0 Iran

    Nathan Blake
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

I think Wales are more than capable of winning this game, just discipline and patience are needed. I think we could go on a win the game comfortably.

Aaron Ramsey currently showing why he never got a game for Juventus & why we [Arsenal] didn’t want him back

    Bill

Aaron Ramsey looks like he hasn’t played a minute of football this season so far. His touch and awareness is way off what I would expect from him.

Re Tom 10.29 - Wales and Iran draw, England beat USA, England then rest players and let Wales win. All happy?

Ross: This is absolutely dreadful from Wales. They don’t look like they’ve ever met each other before.

  17. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Wales 0-0 Iran

If this was a boxing match, we'd be praising the matchmaker for how hard it is to call.

Wales are ranked 19th in the world, Iran 20th.

You can see why they are so close.

This one is going to be an entertaining split-decision or a draw at this rate.

Gareth Bale and Harry Wilson manage to find some space for Neco Williams, but his touch is heavy and that allows Iran to clear.

Suddenly it is Iran who would probably most welcome the interval.

The likes of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey have got to lead from the front here. They've got to set an example, show some calm heads out there.

    Wales 0-0 Iran

    Nathan Blake
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

We are getting back to some sort of decent shape now, Wales got away with that disallowed goal and we just lost our shape.

We need one commanding holding midfielder.
