Japan pride themselves on their precision and their accuracy - they've just not had it today.
If you are German, you are loving this from Costa Rica. It opens the door for them, they could still go through even if they lose to Spain tonight.
Japan 0-1 Costa Rica
If it stays like this, Germany are right back in the Group E mix ahead of their game with Spain later today (19:00 GMT). There are three teams on three points in the 'as it stands' table. Bonkers.

It was pinball inside the six-yard box. It must have come off four different players. Brilliant from Mitoma to dribble along the byline into the area, he pulled it back for Daichi Kamada - that was the big chance.
The ball then bounces around until Navas was able to grab it. Costa Rica might be holding on for a famous World cup victory.

One minute plus stoppages. Costa Rica have shown great character after being stuffed by Spain.

Definitely no penalty. Minamino just loses his footing. If they had just gone one more pass over, Ito might have been in. But that is the best play we've seen from Japan.
Japan 0-1 Costa Rica
Pinball inside the Costa Rica box!
Great delivery by Kaoru Mitoma to set up a chance but Keylor Navas keeps out the first attempt before the ball bounces in and around the six yard area.

Did Japan get ahead of themselves today?
Japan 0-1 Costa Rica
Four minutes plus stoppages. Japan have sent on Takumi Minamino. It's approaching now or never time.
Japan 0-1 Costa Rica
Humiliated 7-0 by Spain. On the verge of beating the team that defeated Germany. What a mad World Cup.

It is going horribly wrong for Japan. They look out of ideas, they look completely lost.

Those fans that have stayed up in the middle of the night to watch this in Costa Rica, how are you feeling? Party time!

A quick pass into Fuller, who holds his run and then bends it into the far top corner. The goalkeeper has absolutely no chance. Gonda is helpless. He was caught flat-footed on the line. We've got a shock on our hands.

Beat Germany. On the brink of defeat to Costa Rica. It's all gone horribly wrong for Japan.

Keysher Fuller sparks an invasion of the substitutes off the bench. You can't make this up. Japan have been dreadful today and having beaten Germany last time out, they're now 1-0 down to a Costa Rica side that lost 7-0 to Spain!
Keysher Fuller
Incredible scenes!
First shot on target of the World Cup. First goal.
They've carried no goal threat all game but Costa Rica have the lead in the closing stags as Keysher Fuller beats the keeper from the edge of the box.
Shuichi Gonda should have done better with that. He gets a hand to the shot but cannot keep it out.
Japan 0-0 Costa Rica
Great noise from Japan's fans as they win a corner. It's cleared by Costa Rica who have been much more solid at the back after their seven-goal thumping at the hands of Spain.

Not for the first time, a lack of quality. Lovely play down the right from Yuki Soma. He delayed his cross and it's almost like he didn't trust himself to play it first time. Then when he did cross it, he overcooked it.
