    HT: Uruguay 0-0 South Korea

    And that's the whistle.

South Korea missed a glorious chance through Hwang Ui-jo before Uruguay hit the post late on in the first half. Goalless at the interval.

We've gone old school with the additional time - just the one minute added on, instead of the seven to ten we've become used to.

It is a great header from Diego Godin, he towers above him.

I was thinking that was in the back of the net.

Uruguay are a horrible team. So much passing from side to side in defence before doing nothing with it. At least when Spain do it they have a purpose. Suarez and Nunez are barely in this game.

Uruguay are pressing as individuals you can see Luis Suarez getting more and more frustrated up front.

But Suarez can't get frustrated if he can't hold the ball up.

    He has to be reliable.

Look at the ball in, great pace and quality. What a header that is. It is a great leap and he's got power on it.

That was a good counter from Uruguay. It looks like they have made a tactical change and Darwin Nunez has gone up front alongside Luis Suarez and they've gone to a back three with Facundo Pellistri at right wing-back and Mathías Olivera on the left.

  7. HITS THE WOODWORK - Uruguaypublished at 13:44 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2022

    Uruguay 0-0 South Korea

Facundo Pellistri crosses from the right and Luis Suarez is just about to shoot but Jung Woo-young comes in from nowhere to send it behind for a corner.

That delivery from the right finds veteran Diego Godin, who jumps well clear of his marker, powerfully heads at goal but sees the ball bounce off the bottom of the left upright.

    So close!

  8. Son struggling to impact the gamepublished at 13:41 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2022

Son Heung-min (7) is not having the desired impact on this game for South Korea.

His average position in this first half shows just how dominant Uruguay have been territorially in this first half.

This has been a good game so far. Both sides competitive, South Korea proving a handful for Uruguay. On paper Uruguay could get deep into this competition, but their group is tricky. South Korea looking disciplined but also with creative sparks - looking a balanced outfit. Not to be underestimated, and probably should be leading the match after Hwang's sitter.

It is too far out to shoot from there. It is a one in a million effort.

This is South Korea's game plan - when Uruguay have possession two banks of four and then look to counter-attack.

You have to be patient and wait for these moments and hope that your quality puts you through. The problem is they've got Luis Suarez up front and he's not as mobile as he was so they need runners from elsewhere.

It is frustrating. Well organised teams are difficult to play against.

Hwang In-beom tries his luck from range and if it goes in it's one of the goals of the World Cup. It doesn't. Nowhere near.

He has to score, he is only seven yards out. He is leaning back, just lean over it and pass it into the net.

    What a great opportunity.

It is a gilt-edge chance. He's leant back and it is an awful miss.

He is not going to get a better chance today. It is a warning for Uruguay though.

  15. CLOSE!published at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2022

    Uruguay 0-0 South Korea

What a chance for South Korea. That should be the first goal of the game. Hwang Ui-jo is free in the middle of the box, about eight yards out and all he has to do is steer it on target. But he leans back, there's no composure, no control and the ball goes over the top.

Team-mate Hwang In-beom drops to his knees at that miss.

That should be 1-0 to South Korea.

That is an awful pass. It is overhit. It was a poor, sloppy pass because because there was an overload.

It is really poor because it a wonderful opportunity. He's taken no care over it.

Mathias Olivera has just been involved in defence and leads a charge downfield with South Korea, for the first time, looking stretched.

But Olivera overhits the through ball to Darwin Nunez, with the Liverpool striker forced wide and that enables Kim Seung-gyu in the South Korea goal to get a hand to it before Nunez could shoot.

You could feel the excitement when he got the ball. Everybody in the stadium was just waiting.

It was well read in the end, but it was better from South Korea.
