Luis Enrique's team have enjoyed 69% of the ball but, as the graphic also shows, haven't translated that into meaningful territory.

Spain's 372 passes - more than double the number made by Morocco - has led to just one (off-target) shot.

I have just heard an interesting stat.

It’s been the most cups of tea being prepared in the first half of a game at this World Cup because nothing happened.

As far as efforts at goal go, Spain have just that Marco Asensio shot into the side netting to show for a first half where they had 69% of possession and played 372 passes to Morocco's 161.

Morocco defended excellently, most of the time, and created more chances too. They deserve a breather - as do their fans, who are currently not drumming, singing or whistling for the first time since the game started.

The game is a chase game. Morocco are hitting on the counter attack.

It is going to take a lot from the Spanish to break Morocco down. They have almost done it but it has to be perfect.

Morocco know they won't have much of the ball. They would rather give the ball to Spain and hit them where it hurts.

Spain have a lot more possession. They must be passing much more than the Moroccans.

However, the Moroccans have a game plan which is to defend their very specific way which works well.

And then boy, do they break quickly and it is a danger.

Spain attempted just one shot in the first half, their fewest on record in the opening 45 minutes of a World Cup match.

The half-time whistle goes in a half which Spain dominated possession-wise but Morocco dominated chance-wise.

Despite all Spain's possession, it is Morocco who have created the game's best chances.

The best was the one which fell to Nayef Aguerd (5) a few moments ago, with Achraf Hakimi (2) and Noussair Mazraoui (3) also making Unai Simon work.

Spain have had just the one shot, which Marco Asensio (10) put into the side-netting.

One minute added on. Because not much has happened.

Spain have a corner, their first of the game, but Marco Asensio rolls it short to Dani Olmo.
