  1. Mane latest...published at 15:50 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

Long-standing Liverpool Echo reporter Ian Doyle says Liverpool have not yet been told by Sadio Mane that he wants to leave but that the request "seems likely shortly".

Doyle says Liverpool will want more than the 30m (£25.5m) Euro fee being banded about and that Bayern Munich want the striker.

  2. Mane set to exit - reports...published at 15:48 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

So while we'll be all over the parade and any more information on the chaos of last night, there's a season to look back on and there also appear to be moves to come.

According to reports from established Liverpool writers, Sadio Mane will indeed ask to leave the Reds this summer. He has of course been one of Jurgen Klopp's key signings and will leave a giant hole for Liverpool to fill.

So how do they do it? Tweet me on #bbcfootball.

  3. The finale...published at 15:45 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

This is where things will wrap up in several hours. There may not be a European Cup on board but my guess is those streets will still be packed out.

It looks like Calvin Harris has been drafted in to DJ for this Liverpool parade.

Meanwhile The Strand - where the parade pretty much finishes in several hours - is already closed down for punters to take up a spot (and maybe a pint).

David Verburg: I’ll have 2 of those hugs Luke. An hour away from home after travelling back from the game. It’s all been said about the farcical organisations Uefa and the French authorities. My 80-year-old old got caught in pepper spray incident too. So yeah 2 hugs please.

Based on this uptake I should have charged a fee but consider them yours David. Hope everyone in your car gets home safely.

  7. Spirit of Shankly statement continued...published at 15:37 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

In continuing from our last post, Liverpool Supporters' Union Spirit of Shankly added: "The consequence of such incompetence was the not unusual heavy-handed response from the police and their indiscriminate use of tear gas and pepper spray.

"The French authorities and police also failed to control gangs of local youths before and after the match. Innocent fans were left distraught after they were assaulted, bags pick pocketed and match tickets stolen."

The Union says its work with several bodies in the build-up to the fixture was "ignored by Uefa and the relevant French authorities".

Their statement adds: "We will now work with those same organisations to gather evidence of all affected by the events in Paris. It is incumbent on Uefa, the French authorities and police to take responsibility. They need to send representatives to Liverpool to meet with LFC and SOS. Lessons need to be learned so that this never happens again."

  8. Spirit of Shankly statement...published at 15:34 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

Liverpool Supporters' Union Spirit of Shankly have put out a statement on last night's scenes outside the Stade de France.

They point to "the disorganisation and shambolic mismanagement of a major final by Uefa."

Spirit of Shankly said: "Fans were not late. Many began arriving more than two-and-a-half hours before the scheduled kick-off time. They had legitimate tickets but failed to gain entry.

"The Merseyside Police representative in Paris made it clear: 'I can only describe it as the worst European match I’ve ever worked or experienced. I thought the behaviour of the fans at the turnstiles was exemplary in shocking circumstances. You were not late 100 per cent'.

"The failure rests with UEFA, the French authorities and police."

Kindergarten Klopp: You giving out hugs, Luke? I could do with a break from the doom scrolling. #bbcfootball, external

I did offer hugs after a tricky night in my opening post. They remain on offer, free of charge. We all love this game don't we? Let's keep the love flowing I say.

  10. 'Muggings and thuggery'published at 15:28 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

Former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer tweets: "Last night was disgusting. My son attacked, my wife mugged. Uefa are very accountable as well as ground stewards and French police."

The club's former defender Jim Beglin adds: "Post-match last night was the scariest I’ve ever experienced. Organised gangs set about mugging departing fans. We ran a gauntlet of thuggery on our way to the Metro. Not a police officer in sight. Witnessed so many ambush attacks on unsuspecting attendees. Reprehensible Uefa."

  11. Kennedy on an 'uncomfortable' nightpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

My social media feed has videos of people being sprayed by police, there's a nine-year-old kid wiping his eyes and his father tweets he's done with attending such events.

While we focus on Liverpool's celebration in the city today we will of course be abreast of reaction to the scenes from before Saturday night's Champions League final.

Former Liverpool footballer who netted the winning goal in the 1981 European Cup, Alan Kennedy, was caught up in the problem,

The 67-year-old told of how he was “swept off his feet in the surge of people” outside the stadium and ended up by a metal fence.

“To be in a crowd of people and not know where you are being taken to… it was the most uncomfortable situation to be in,” says Kennedy.

The former footballer was carried over the fence by other supporters, who were also behind the barrier.

“There were lots of tensions from the fans who were sometimes shouting at each other,” he told BBC North West Tonight, adding the organisation of the night as “shambolic”.

  12. The day's route...published at 15:22 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

So we can mark your card for a parade that starts around 16:00 BST. I ran past the compound this morning where Liverpool's men's side will board their bus and it'll then make its way to Queens Drive and beyond, finishing in front of those two Liver Birds - Bella and Bertie down on The Strand.

What I'd love is if you're out there, send me a pic or some comments to #bbcfootball.

  13. Welcome one and all...published at 15:14 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

First of all, I hope wherever you are reading this from you are safe and in good spirits.

We all love this sport for its highs and lows (even though the lows hurt a bit) but none of us sign up to scenes of chaos outside stadiums as we saw last night.

Out there somewhere there'll be mothers who may worry about letting kids go to games, dads wondering if it's too risky to take their nippers to matches and, generally, some consequence of one kind or another for the ugly scenes.

I know where I was last night the mood turned a little as expectation turned to concern for others in the build-up to the game. Messages were pinging, videos were being shared and it really wasn't good.

So I hope you're all good. I hope, whoever your team may be, you've had some joy this season following them. That's what we're in it for. Here's to some joy and happiness over the summer and next season - whoever you follow.

  14. A hug, a parade and much to ponder...published at 15:05 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

Thanks to Callum there for typically super work guiding us through the aftermath of what was a strange night.

We have a lot to dig through today my friends.

There's the chaos of last night at the Stade de France, there's a missed opportunity for Liverpool, there's a parade, there's the season as a whole and of course there's that news that Sadio Mane looks set to leave the club.

We want all your stories and view on #bbcfootball. It'll be our pleasure to guide you through it all.

It's been a bizarre 24 hours. I think we all need a hug.

Right, time for me to call it a day. Thank you for all your company and contributions in the last eight hours - there has been a lot to get through.

I'll leave you in the more than capable hands of Luke Reddy. We'll be here for hours yet - the parade hasn't even started and those things can last a good while!

    Enjoy.

  16. 'We don't play finals, we win them'published at 14:58 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

    Semra Hunter
La Liga TV presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live

Nine players from the squad, five of which were starters, now have five Champions League trophies. It is incredible.

Four of those players have racked up more than 100 performances in the competition so there is definitely something to be said for knowing how to play in a final.

There is an expression that they really like to use at the club and it's 'we don't play finals, we win them' and they are experts at it.

On top of that you've got to go back to the manager and his coolness. It's all emanates from him. He said in the press conference last night that there were times when he was doubting if they could make it to the final but the players, as a collective unit, said believe, believe, believe and believe - not only are we going to get there, but we're going to win.

It is that self belief and confidence that they've done this more than anyone else. It is part of who they are, it's part of their identity, it's part of their DNA. On top of that the Madrid fans and the club really believe it is their competition - it is in their bones, it is part of who they are.

  17. Bale makes it fivepublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

Wales forward Gareth Bale is part of a group of nine players in the current Real Madrid squad that has won five Champions League.

Not bad considering he joined the club in 2013 and spent last year on loan too.

He's played a total of seven minutes in the Champions League this season but that isn't going to stop him celebrating with the ol' trophy.

  18. 'This was meant to be a year of transition of Real'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

    Semra Hunter
La Liga TV presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live

It feels really mind blowing to be honest with you.

Last summer when Zinedine Zidane left the club there was so much talk about this being a year of transition because the stars were becoming veterans and ageing and there were younger players coming through. How is that going to work in terms of it coming together?

And then you consider that Carlo Ancelotti was actually fourth or fifth choice on the list of potential replacements for Zidane, even though he'd worked his charm in 2014. It really is astonishing what he's done this season.

  19. Postpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

Almost time for me to hang over to Luke, who will build up to the parade and and then take you through all the shenanigans from that. I imagine it'll be slightly more sombre than we saw from Manchester City, and particularly Jack Grealish, on Monday night.

But before I do, there's time to bring you a little bit more reaction from the Real Madrid camp.

  20. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

We've been bringing you some of the numbers behind Liverpool's season in the last hour.

Here's the final batch: the top assist-makers.

Full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson and Konstantinos Tsimikas have laid on 39 goals in all competitions.
