Alexander: New season same Chelsea… only way they were going to score was via penalty
Everton 0-1 Chelsea
Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Goodison Park
Everton have done some decent approach work but they look exactly what they are, which is a team without a recognised striker trying to break down a vastly experienced Chelsea defence.
Hard to see where Everton's goals are coming from and they need to find one from somewhere.

FT: Bournemouth 2-0 Aston Villa
Aston Villa
Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard, speaking to BBC Sport: "It's not the result we came here for. We have had 90 minutes and we have not created enough. Our quality in the final third was miles off. Our speed of play could have been quicker and we could have added more intensity into our play. We have only ourselves to blame for the result.
"We have concede two sloppy ones and we need to work on that and address it. We have put all our attacking players on the pitch and we haven't tested their keeper enough."
FT: Newcastle 2-0 Nottm Forest
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe to BBC Match of the Day:
"We’ve laid the foundation of how we want to play, the team we want to be. There’s no guarantee we can deliver that every week but that’s certainly the blueprint of how we want to play.
"Going in at half-time I was really pleased with how we had played but we hadn’t scored and the game was very much there to win – but I’ve seen many games where half-time brings a total change of momentum and the good thing about our performance was we didn’t allow that.
"We did need a bit of patience today. Fabian’s goal came at a brilliant time for us and then the crowd saw us home."

Nottingham Forest fans will be disappointed. They haven't played as well as they should have done today but I believe that Forest have bought some good players. They've got some good quality and the manager has done incredibly well.
The football club is buoyant again. However, they have to got to the next level if they want to mix it with the big boys and they found out today how difficult that is going to be.
FT: Newcastle 2-0 Nottm Forest
Newcastle United
Newcastle goalscorer Fabian Schar:
"As soon as I hit the ball, I thought I hit it quite well. We had a lot of chances and didn’t score so it was an important goal and it is always great to score in front of the home fans.
"Over the 90 minutes we played some great football – the goals didn’t come in the first half but we dominated possession and had a lot of chances.
"The fans expect a lot from us this season, it’s electric when you are here and you just want to give them something to cheer.
"We have a strong team, a lot of quality but we know difficult the Premier League is as well. We wanted to start the season well but we have to focus on the next game and see what happens."
FT: Newcastle 2-0 Nottm Forest
Nottingham Forest
Forest boss Steve Cooper to BBC Match of the Day:
"We're obviously disappointed that we've lost a game of football, that's the mentality that we have here, but it was good to feel what a Premier League game is actually like in terms of the intensity and the change to what it was like last year in the Championship.
"It was always going to be a summer of change with the make-up of the squad last year - so many loans and contracts finishing and players wanting to move on. It was maybe a surprise from the outside with how many players have come in but it was always something that was going to happen and we had planned for.
"It's great to be playing Premier League football, to live and breathe and feel exactly what it's like. We've got to learn from today and try to improve.
"I'm standing here disappointed we've not won a football match but I know, at the same time, being back in the Premier League is so important to everybody connected with the football club, especially the supporters."
As it is half time we will just sweep up some more of the reaction from earlier games.

As the game has gone on, Everton fell further back. They just need to make one mistake under that sort of pressure.
They had started well, but Chelsea deserve this just about.
Everton 0-1 Chelsea
The whistle goes for half time and Chelsea lead at the break.
Yerry Mina was booked just before Jorginho took the penalty as he argued against the decision. It prompted a lengthy wait for Jorginho but he keep his cool to give the Blues the lead.
Jorginho pen
Calm as you like!
Jorginho rolls the ball into the bottom corner as Jordan Pickford dives the wrong way and Chelsea have the lead right before half time.

He's dragged Chilwell back there. There's no arguments.

Paul: Pickford got lucky then. Abysmal goalkeeping and got lucky that Sterling was offside.

Chelsea fans were worried about losing Antonio Rudiger. They've got Rudiger mark II, haven't they?
Different players but Kalidou Koulibaly's tackling has been excellent.
Everton 0-0 Chelsea
Ben Chilwell plays this one short to Raheem Sterling and the ball is eventually whipped into the box but Kalidou Koulibaly's header is a comfortable save for Jordan Pickford.
