    Huddersfield 0-0 Blackpool

Great defending from Blackpool's Jordan Thorniley as, facing his own goal, he calmly clears a wicked cross from Sorba Thomas.

Plenty of players would have put that in their own net.

Thomas getting more involved for the hosts, there are few more dangerous wingers in the Championship than the man who provided 12 assists last term.

  2. 'Lack of attacking quality'published at 15:34 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    Brett Ormerod
Former Blackpool striker on BBC Radio Lancashire

It’s a free header. It’s Huddersfield's best chance but it was still only half a chance.

There has been a lack of quality in the attacking half from both teams.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Blackpool

Perhaps not quite a head of steam, but Huddersfield are building something here.

A string of corners ends with a decent chance for Jack Rudoni, who has recovered from that head injury, but he glances wide.

Terriers have improved after a nervy start.

    Hull City 0-1 Sheff Utd

I gather Sheffield United also got caught out trying that corner routine (15:28 entry) against Watford earlier this season.

I'm all for trying different things from set pieces but... Maybe leave that one on the training ground lads.

Oscar Estupinan really should have scored. As Peter Swan says, it was like time stopped and he just couldn't make up his mind.

Not what you'd expect from a player with seven goals already this season.

  5. 'Oscar should've scored'published at 15:31 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    Hull City 0-1 Sheff Utd

    Peter Swan
Former Hull City defender on BBC Radio Humberside

He got to within 10-12 yards from the keeper and everything seemed to stop - you're thinking 'which way's he going to put it?

You'd want Oscar on the end of those chances and he should've scored there.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    Hull City 0-1 Sheff Utd

    Max Lowe can't carry on.

The Blades defender makes way and is replaced by veteran Chris Basham.

    My word!

    Right.

So Sheffield United have a corner on their right that they look to set back to the edge of the area but they make a right mess of it.

Hull pinch it and Oscar Estupinan is in on the halfway line and racing in on goal.

Max Lowe is chasing him for the Blades but then pulls up with a hamstring injury.

Estupinan obviously goes on and has his shot but it's straight at Wes Foderingham in the Blades goal.

Then on the rebound Foderingham denies him again and is hurt in the process.

Anyway... When we get going again it will be with a corner to Hull.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Blackpool

Huddersfield's Jack Rudoni takes a whack to the head in a collision with Blackpool keeper Dan Grimshaw.

He's down for a while and receives lengthy treatment but is eventually given the OK to continue.

  9. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    Hull City 0-1 Sheff Utd

Could be 2-0, maybe should be.

The home side get opened right up and Sander Berge is in.

He goes round Matt Ingram in the Hull goal but he's forced wide. The Norway international looks to cut a low ball back to an on-rushing team-mate but it's cut out.

  10. Postpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    Huddersfield 0-0 Blackpool

There was a emotional minute's applause before kick-off at the John Smith's Stadium as both sides paid tribute to Eleanor Haigh, a member of Huddersfield's media department, who died this week at the age of 26.

    Hull City 0-1 Sheff Utd

    Peter Swan
Former Hull City defender on BBC Radio Humberside

It's just gone through him. The keeper should dive and save that all day long.

Sometimes you're unsighted but he should've saved it. It's a shame because he's had a good season son far.

Only he'll know what's gone wrong. It wasn't the pace of the shot.

Blackpool should be in front too.

Huddersfield keeper Lee Nicholls has a nightmare with a misplaced pass but Jerry Yates cannot capitalise.

He has his choice of team-mates to pick out but selects the wrong avenue and the chance is gone.

  13. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    Hull City 0-1 Sheff Utd

Hull City look to hit straight back.

Ozan Tufan swings in a free-kick from the right that Alfie Jones looks to head towards goal.

It loops up off his shoulder and over the bar.

GOAL: Hull City 0-1 Sheff Utdpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    Oli McBurnie (20 mins)

Three in three for Oli McBurnie!

Hull City goalkeeper Matt Ingram will not want to see this one again.

Some nice play by the Blades down their left ends with McBurnie cutting in off the edge of the area and shooting low for the near post.

I don't know if Ingram was just caught by surprise a little but the keeper gets across to it only for it to squirm underneath him.

Blades going top as it stands.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Blackpool

    Brett Ormerod
Former Blackpool striker on BBC Radio Lancashire

Blackpool have been the better team in the opening stages.

They have had better possession but it’s been a bit nicey-nicey, there’s not been a meaty challenge to get the fans going, it’s been a slow pace.

  16. Postpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    A waste.

The home side finally break forward but Ryan Longman holds on to it just a moment too long and Ozan Tufan is offside by the time he plays the pass.

Just about 15 minutes in here and it's been almost all Sheffield United.

That injury to Benjamin Tetteh wont have helped the home side's bid to build up some momentum.

  18. Postpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    Huddersfield 0-0 Blackpool

The first effort of the game from Huddersfield is a decent one.

The ever-dangerous Sorba Thomas chops inside and tests Dan Grimshaw at his near post but the Blackpool keeper is equal to it.

  19. Benjamin Tetteh injury 'doesn't look good'published at 15:15 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    Hull City 0-0 Sheff Utd

    Peter Swan
Former Hull City defender on BBC Radio Humberside

It doesn't look good - especially when there's no-one around you. He's got both hands covering his face. Not a good sign.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    Hull City 0-0 Sheff Utd

Yeah, Hull City have had to make a change.

Benjamin Tetteh can't carry on and Ryan Longman is on in his place.

Both Hull and Ghana will hope it isn't a long lay-off for Tetteh.
